Classic E55 Style
Future models will be grasping to attain the same level of muscular stance, stoutness and firmly planted style that the W210 E55 acheives.
I think the point is that the new e-class will never look as muscular as the w210. Put wider tires, lower the w211 and it will still look nice but whipy in comparison to the w210

I saw a E500 today when I brought my E55 in for oil change. I must agree that the new W211 doesn't have the muscular stance and the more I look at it, the more feminine it looks. Maybe the new E55 will have a more menacing appearance. The M5 also look very muscular. I just bought a 2 years extended warranty for my E55 and I will keeping mine for a little while.

Imagine all the mods possible during the next 6 years!!
:p
That pic I posted is from a tuning site - yes, E class. Yes fat tires (love the look). Check out all of the great tuning site links here:

"But the body would benefit from more macho massaging, especially for a car that will cost about $75,000."
The new E55 needs something to give it the 'awe' factor - maybe a small deck wing not to big and more pronounced wheel arch or bulges. The fenders should not be the same as on the E320 and E500. It also needs 255 tires up front and 285 in the rear. Oh well maybe the mid-model update will bring those changes.

Hey E55 KEV, are you sure they said a price of about $75,000? I thought I read they were estimating a price of $85,000.

We have debated the price topic quite a few times. I have been posting my guess around $73k since June 2002. The guys that have been spouting $85k are basing there guess on the price of the Audi RS6 and/or considering what it would cost to add a supercharger to the car. That figure of a base price of $85k was never substantiated for US market.
Other countries pay really high prices for Mercedes and AMG cars like the Australians pay over $123k for the new E55 and with taxes up to $140k. If you feel like reading some of the debates go to:
Why is the price of the E55 important to discuss?:

Again - US E55 should be $74k! More Logic!

With a proper bodykit like that then yes!
I hope we are right on this one, I decided to pass on the M3. I am still debating between a 2002 E55 , a new E55, or a new M5(a lot depends on the price of the last two).

I bought the 2 years/ 100,000 miles extended warranty for $2960 with tax. It is more expensive than the regular E-class warranty because I was told the AMG car cost more. I believed it would be $2250 for the regular E-class. Everything is covered except for bulbs, radio and phone systems. There is no deductible also. Chances are there will be no major problems next 6 years but I want to be prepare. This Mercedes warranty is only transferrable for a private sales and not for a trade in.
I did get a $200 discount so the price is neogotiable. I hope you can get a better deal than I can.
John
I have to disagree, the 211 can be menacing, muscular, tough, or whatever.
