just fitted twin cone filters!!

hi guys bought a twin cone kit for the car from yoursideof the pond!! was a bit unsure if they guy who sold it to me knew what he was talking about!!!

and as expected .. no!!! ha ha sent me 2 cones, 2 bends, lots of hose, the kit is quite nice but as expected it didn't take into account the inlet size to air box (the oval's).. so was supplied with hose too small to fit on those inlets..

anyway ...... after a bit of messing about i chopped the bends up as well as the OE intakes

now fit lovely!!! sound nice too.. as fo gains its hard to say YET.. as the car is playing around acting funny since fitting them ./ so prob learning different air going in.. but as soon as its calmed down il dyno it!!!!!!!!

do you have any heat shields? What'd you do for an engine cover? How about a picture?

Do you mind showing pics because we have no idea what it looks like or what you have there.

here we go!!

and to answer question about engine cover.. well here you go.. i liked the look of the engine cover and stuff, so have taken both panel filters out and am basically using it as a plenom chamber

and best of all it blends in with the engine bay could almost be stock.. well maybe

I am not sure that would work for us in California. It gets dam hot in the summer and it looks like that set up would suck in hot air

My car does not like hot air. Not sure what your temps are in the UK.

Do you notice any HP gains?

Might as well leave the whole thing off, both intake tube to the air filter chamber box. Either way it taken in hot air from the engine compartment. Look better than having a spongie thing on a tubes. I hope it doesn't fall off and get caught in the fan & belt

well we will see..... i have placed 1 directly in the line on the OE intake.... with additional air intake under it drawing cold air fron lower bumper..

otherside is also the same in line of OE intake with an additional air intake drawing cold air from lower bumper....

Yes sitting in traffic it will suck in warm air... instead of the OE intake that sucks in cool air that is then warmed in the rams and air box ..

BUT.... it would take only a min or so to cool down again once on move... i also have put heat proof shielding under air box.. which maywell help a little....

BUT being dyno'd tomorrow if its sorted itself out.. otherwise as soon as it has il do 1...

it does make an awesome noise mind you... and feels like it pulls harder mid-top end with a more noticable power band... but like i said yet to be proven....

OH and the spongy things are held on really well they aint coming off

Not a good idea..You're kinda killing things there without a heat shield. You will be sucking in tremendous amts of engine heat there. Plus the intake openings by the grill are very very small.

You would be better off running two long hoses from each side of the airbox to the lower part of the bumper ,where you would take in ,fresh cold ,ram forced air. That's what I did with my C43. Makes a nice difference all around.

yes that was my next thing i was going to do / the only problem i can see is room for the filter onwater bottle/ECU side.. its PRETTY TIGHT...... il try this and see, then i was going to move them and compare..

the only other issues im thinking of is filter size and the fact i have taken away the positive air pressure which in all fairness is what the OE system is all about....

BUT.. you dont know untill you try and thats what im doing
