I know people on the north, 43°F is still warm, but here in Houston it takes some getting used to it.

JAM55, hold on to your shifter. Pocholin is diligently doing us all a favor. And there are some other interesting runs so it may take a while.

By the way JamE55, my doghouse is a 43 Post Sportfishing boat appropriately named "Whipping Post". Pocholin has seen it in my pictures so you may have confused him!

What I like about this car is how clean it looks. Commonly I see tuner cars look.....well, you be the judge. This car could very well be OEM, but the trained eye can tell that it is not. Very well done, this is everything a tuned car should be.

2002 E55K RENNtech HP
Thanks Pocholin for posting the dyno. And yes, 440.7 RWHP and doesn't start dropping off until almost 6500 RPM. Notice also the ambient temperatures at the time. Initial dyno was pretty strong partially due to K&N filters I had installed. I for one am curious to see what Pocholin's E55 will dyno before mods. Any doubts about RENNtech's expertise should now be history. Thanks again Poch.

James
I am not clear what the benefit is to modifiying the old body style E55 with what basically amounts to a lightly moded new E55 performance numbers?
I imagine you have about $25-35K in mods at least, with blue book on the car you could have a new car that does the same numbers under warranty? Is there some performance benefit to the old platform?
The dyno numbers are pretty good, figuring about 20% loose in the dirveline 530Hp at the crank sounds about right, but only 187mph, that seems low, what is the limiting factor? Won't a stock non SC E55 run close to that? Did you change thie final dirve ratio?
What was the stock RWHP?
Let us know when you have some 1/4 mile numbers on the car.

2002 E55K RENNtech HP
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
To make a long story short, I originally placed a deposit for an E50 in Dec.'97 and they never came to the U.S. I left my deposit with the dealer when the E55 was announced. My first E55 arrived in early Feb.'99 and I really enjoyed it. Then I read about the upcoming supercharged E55 but was somewhat skeptical. I researched the possibility of supercharging my '99 E55 and learned that RENNtech could do it. After giving it some thought and being told by my dealer I may have to wait a year or two, I opted to trade in my '99 for an '02 and have it supercharged. I realized it would be expensive but I wanted something unique, which is what I now have. My best 1/4 mile so far is 12.105 @ 118.32 MPH on my street tires (Bridgestone S-03 285/30-19's). As for the top speed, it is governed at 187 MPH by RENNtech, probably for tire safety and liability. Otherwise the car might approach 198 MPH as it makes power to 6500 RPM and has the standard rear axle ratio. No limited slip either. Also am running through the stock exhaust from the downpipes back. The car is as quiet as any W210 E55. I hope this answers your questions, but if not, feel free to e-mail me. Stock RWHP was 305.5 after K&N filters were installed. Ran 13.467 @104.3 MPH

mr cannon..thats one sweet ride you've got ...thanks for sharing all the info...i never really had any concerns about renntech though... do you think the k&n filters are worth throwing on a stock e55?...(i know it helps immensely with the s/c).

I'd be curious to see what the car would run with some drag rubber on 17's.. I'm guessing you're leaving 1/2 second on the table with the street tire setup.
As for the E50, was that a four-valve car in Europe? I wonder if that would have been an interesting motor to modify. My understanding is that the 3 valve motors are a lot less sturdy than the old 4-valve V8's.

I'm not sure if that blower will hold up, but you're welcome to enter that bad-boy in the Open Track Challenge! Here's a pic of my car from last year:

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Sander, the E50 was the 4 valve engine which is probably preferred by tuners for it's better breathing potential. M-B went to the 3 valve design for emissions reduction (and probably cost cutting). The Open Track Challenge sounds like fun but too far away for me at this time. I hope to be seriously fishing in the GOM this spring and summer.
