2002 E55K RENNtech HP
Question

Thanks for the comment Bumpski! The K&N filters are definitely worth using and really easy to install.
On another subject, I still see the Kleemann vs. HPS feud is going strong! Why don't these guys post some real performance figures for everybody to see and compare? Since these people and cars seem to be located in California, why don't they meet at a local dragstrip and duke it out? Talk is far too cheap and easy!!
How about it guys???

Cannon: it would be interesting to have a kleeman car, HPS car and Renntech car to go together on the track. :-)

Pocholin: The air filters that are good for 0.1 s improved in 1/4 mile, is it the cone or the square one? Any minor modification you would recommend to improve my 0-60 or 1/4 mile. Btw, my car is not 55 AMG, it is CLK 430.

Thanks

hinhin7, the E55 takes two rectangular air filters. I think the 430 engine uses a box to the left of the engine bay. In that care I'd get rid of the box and put a cone air filter (even if it means sucking some hot ait from the engine), I did that on my wife's montecarlo and you can feel the difference plus mpg improved by 2 mph.

I changed the air filter on my car already. It was 2 rectangular air filters from K&N, $180 from the dealer :-(
my service advisor didn't allow me to change into the cone one as he said the air filter might leaks or something. Is the cone much better than the square one?

With the cone, why did you say that it would suck hot air, isn't the location would be the same with the rectangular one?

Thanks Pocholin.

I didn't know the 430 had dual air filters, that's good, that's what I used and I wouldn't recommend cone air filter anymore.

Some Benzes hava a single box to the left of the engine, in that case you remove the box and put a cone air filter (K&N) and it is much better than the box, but your car is good to go the way it is, because it is sucking air from the front of the car.

The cone is a better alternative to the square one when you only have one air filter.

The CLK430 has dual filters. The E430 and ML430 both have one filter on the passengers side.
