Who has the highest mileage car? I have a question for you..

I would love to know who has clocked a few miles on their beasts. I've owned my 2000 E55 for about a year now, and it has 148k miles. Should we consider this a lot? My other question concerns maintenance. In the year that I've owned my autobahn cruiser, I've:

replaced the MAF sensor, the Crank Position Sensor, both of which had left me in ackward positions when they failed. Got both through AutohausAZ

had the gearbox flushed completely at AAMCO, and the rear differential oil changed(I also had a leaky pinion seal).

Changed all four O2 sensors, all 16 spark plugs, and replaced both air filter panels with K&N's.

And a new windshield wiper. And don't forget the countless rear tires.

My question is what should I expect? I've read about the MAF and CPS, and also about the front ball joints and bushings on the lower front arm, which need changing eventually. My car "clicks" driving slowly into driveways, so I understand the swaybar links need replacement. Not the bar bushings, but the links themselves.

So, post your mileage!! I don't want to be the only one over 140,000 miles. And let me know about your maintenance challenges

How much is that?

I have 113000 miles right now, but about 500 a week if I don't go anywhere on weekends.

My 2000 E55 just broke 55,000 miles, and I plan to go 255,000 miles. I should get there by the year 2041 at the sweet old age of 90.

98 E320 about 178K on her. Still running, no major problems. The two major issues were the EGR Valve, and the Blower Motor, that's all.

How often do you replace the MAF? I just replaced mine about 6 months ago, and I feel like the it might be gone again since the tourqu blast is really intermittent now.

BTW, I got 75K on mine.

I'm not sure if the MAF was ever replaced on mine. I bought it with 65K and now it has 80K miles. 2000 E55. can you replace the MAF yourself.

as far as maintainence, before I left NJ for Cali, I replaced the spark plugs, oil change and filter (which I have done once again since being out here) fuel filter, air filters, cabin filter(s), charcoal filter(s) and the serpentine belt.

what do you mean by torque blast?

also while we are on the subject of maintainence, my makes the same clicking sound when going slow over drainage ditches, etc. and IF ANYONE HAS experienced this let me know. sometimes when I go downhill or slow down from high speeds it doesn't down shift. any ideas?

I replace it about 1x/yr... whenever it starts to feel less peppy... although with the Kleemann s/c it's very peppy

'99 E55 AMG
I have 76k on my '99.....I have had 0 problems with it...and the previous owner had 0 problems with it during the 7 yrs he owned it.
I have done some maintenance to it by my own choice....new serpentine belt, fresh coolant, fresh brake fluid, new battery, all new filters throughout car, oil changes etc...the usual stuff any car at 60-75k would require.
I hope it keeps running this well....

Torque blast is that rush of power you get when you put the pedal to the floor. Not the linear acceleration of smooth throttle input, but that rush of power that puts you back in your seat.

You guys can clean these MAFs rather than throwing them away, you know?

I have an SL600, and each of my two MAFs is $300 on autohausaz, or $582 at the dealer, and so I don't have the luxury of throwing them out every 6 months like some of you do. So like one of Darwin's apes, I've adapted...

Take a soft toothbrush or a Q-tip and some pure alcohol, then remove the MAF assembly from the car and use these implements to thoroughly clean the sensor element. Then, douse it with CRC's MAF cleaner spray just for good measure, and re-install it in the car.

I think you will find the results to be the same as replacing it with a new one.

Thank you CWW that's what I have trying to tell everyone. It takes 40 min top. I cleaned mine while having a Corona..Night and Day bay...What I don't like tho is that I am rocking K&N so I know that I'll have to clean her out ever 15k or so....
