OK, I went to the track, it was nice, nice air, nice temp, nice traction (except my last two times where I spun), here are the results,so I'm happy with my K&N air filters, nice improvement. I don't care if K&N lets very very small particles thru, IMO they can't hurt the engine if they are that small!!
Here is the time slip on the paper air filters:

Half Slip
Pocholin, did you run alone, or with someone in the other lane?
This wouldn,t be winning car lane? Photo-Photo-Photo.
Just jackin with you. Those are nice times. Did you use gel packs to cool down between runs.
My c32 got a drink of water in fuel. Now @ dealer for draining of tank and filters. 1500 miles. And needs tune-up. Oh well!
While we were there my wife bought a C230 Black. Fun Toy.
Hope to see you one day in Houston @ track.

As a matter of fact, those two runs I did loose
I didn't use the cold packs on purpose. After the 13.209 I did put the cold packs and made a couple of passes on them but I spun both times bringing my times to 13.388 and 13.492, I guess they do work because then I started having traction problems

I'm sure I could've broken into the 13.1s if I had been able to get traction, those cold packs do seem to work! Are you guys coming friday 6th???

What are cold packs and how do you use them?

Traction
Hey Pocholin, if I can make it to Houston for the 6th I will try to bring my original rear wheels with the Hoosier road race tires on them. Hell, you might even break into 12,s if you can get better traction. I'll try to give you a 1 second head start! Might use your tires for ballast in my trunk, heh heh!

Pocholin, let me know if you decide to take a drive North one day. I can meet you half way in the black beast.

May be we can go to Enis, it has been over a year since I've been there! Last time I was at Ennis I won First place drag racing my 96 Impala, in the 14s class.

Those are quick 60ft times. You must be running slicks? On street tires I would think that 2.2 - 2.3 sec 60ft times would be more like it.

E55 AMG time slips
I have managed 1.932 sec. 60 ft. times on my Bridgestone 285/30-19 street tires so I have no problem believing Pocholin is running street tires on his E55. By the way, check out the video Pocholin posted for me under the 2 AMiGos racing. Those are my street tires. Launch technique is critical.

I need Slicks or at least drag radials! I could power brake to 1500 rpm or so, I'm powering to ~850-900 rpm, Tires are 275/35/18 Kumhos 712

My worst 60' time spinning was 2.150 and I ended up running 13.492 @ 105.41
If You notice I also have pretty good r/t .575, .559, .665, etc.

Looks like speedy gonzales/bootie assasin' has the fastest stock E55 with 50k on the od. in the whole white world or G-Tech is used to measure his times.
What are the two cut off pieces of paper and where is the rest, used in the toilet? Just curious.

LOL!!!! Friday nights in Houston is test and tune/street night, so they neither post your times on the board, nor will give you anybody's times, so they cut it in half.

E55 AMG time slips
Hey Pocholin, am I right, those Kuhmo's are street tires, right? What is the wear factor on them, like 160 or 180. My Bridgestones are 220 which is not soft enough for me. By the way, best of luck in Illinois, remember the Blues Brothers? I think Illinois is as politically corrupt as La. Don't know yet if I can be there for the 6th but will keep you posted.

Well, I hope it stops raining before friday.

It went somewhat well in Illinois, I didn't have to stay in jail, but I had to pay a rather fat fine!!!

You are right the kumhos are street tires. Really soft specially if you warm them up at the track.

Thanks, ride on the kumhos is IMO Lovely!!! really quiet in comparison to the Potenza RE730 (or 430, what ever the number was), better grip, excellent comfort (softer), I'd highly recommend, and if anybody in houston wants a spin for comparison you guys are welcome!

Pocholin

When you launched your E55, what gear were you in? Did you just leave in 4th or D? Did you manually shift the gears from 1st through each gear? You seemed to have gotten pretty good times with your car and I was just trying to find the best way to launch mine. Going to the track this weekend (I hope). Thanks for any tips or suggestion.

I've always left the transmission on D, here is the way I do it.

Pull up to the track, back up a little bit to the water trap, put it on first gear, turn traction control off, burn tires and let go of the brake right after it starts burning, and let it roll burning tires, after abour 3-4 seconds (may be 5) I let go of the gas and proceed to stage, right before staging I put the car in neutral and rev the engine a couple of times to release stress (I don't know if this really does anything, but it does seem to work for me), then put it on drive and stage, I power brake to about 800-900 rpm, on the second yellow I start going by leting off the brake and hitting the gas hard, this way I don't usually spin and gain a little mommentum.

Every time I've tried 1000 rpm, I spin, so don't try 1000 rpm. Good luck and I hope this tips help.

Were you pleased with the 105mph trap speed? I would have thought that with low 13's E.T., you would have been topped 108mph, no?
