E55 AMG newbie!!
Hi guys,
Nice forum. Just got myself a 1999 E55 AMG and i'm loving it!!! I'm stressing out though cause there are so many little things i've got to take care of...
Just thought i'd say hello, show you a photo of my wheels as I bought it, and i'll look forward to doing searching and askin questions!!

Bienvenidos.
Nice color, and nice rims. Is that an aftermarket front bumper? It appears to be a 2000 - 2002 W210 E55 front bumper. And, the side mirror are update also. You may have a 2000+ there my friend, or the former owner applied some major cosmetic upgrades.

ruBenz is right, that's a post face-lift front end on your '99 E55?!! Looks like a euro-bumper too!
And what little things do you need to take care of? Don't stress so you won't make a mess...

According to Mercedes it's a '99. I don't know enough about them yet to determine what's the difference. Still trying to compile a history together. The guy I bought it off only has loads of receipts of servicing, which is enough to prove it's km's. I'm taking the car to Merc on Wed to order a new key and get the wheels checked, uneven wear on the drivers side front and a slight pull to the left is my first priority.
When I spoke to Merc, they told me the car was originally bought by a sheikh of Dubai!! which might explain upgraded accessories like mirrors (drivers side doesn't fold by the way!!) bumper and wheels.
Anyway, this is why I turn to you experts for advice!

You have the folding side mirror option which (I believe) is not available in the US. I could be wrong though.
I have the Designo edition also and I have the navi option. I don't see that
in yours. Was it an available option back then?

Thanks for all the comments guys, I was really nervous about buying a car like this but you're making me feel much better!!!
I think the Navigation was only available post 2000?? not sure.
A couple of quick fire questions rather than start a new post:
Can you get adaptors for the inbuilt phone holder? it say's it's for a 3110 and I have a newer model Nokia.
What about those wheels? I think they're from an s-class but they're 19's. Has anyone had 19's on their E55, any problems?? The car is shakey at high speeds so getting the wheels balanced and aligned today to see if this helps.

I think the phone is for the analog type... as used by Motorola a decade ago IIRC. Yes, start off by getting them balanced and see if that cures the shaking. Show us more detailed pics in & out... Happy

Thanks for the comments guys. Sent the car in for a check up today with my local mechanic. He'll just make sure there are no leaks etc, need to get him to check the harmonic balancer as well.
I went to Mercedes dealer yesterday (in Dubai BTW) to order a new key (about $500!!!) and also check the price of some "minor" parts. Like a new roof ariel, $180!!! new passenger door bottom seal about $170!!! I can't believe the price of these parts!! Anyway, I'm going to need to find somewhere to get cheaper or salvaged parts over here. Really looking forward to it all though!!

With reference to that Roof ariel/antenna. I've tried to do a few searches and can't answer my question. I basically have a hole in the roof of the car now with a little lug type thing on the end of a wire moving around inside. What do I need to fix that? I found posts about replacing black tips and cases etc but not sure what I need. Whatever it is i'm hoping I can find aftermarket prices!!

I bought the car with those wheels on it, I was told they are from an S63. They look amazing but i'm contemplating going back to the original 18's for ride quality. Tyres are expensive and speed bumps painful with these 19's!!
