no worries.. I agree. I just love the potential of these motors. I'm very low 400's btw
.. all that and 2mpg better fuel economy ...unless I get seduced by the pedal...
We shall see how the new Quaife TLS fairs at getting both of the Michelin's to hook up and launch properly..... and the sound is.....mmmmm.....very seductive since it is essentially an open pipe system with a single hi flow race cat and the exhaust turbine between headers and exhaust tip.

Thats what I'm saying man. They wanted me to give them my car and $15k for them to experiment on it. I need some form of boost. My turbo busa has made everything else feel like a slow poke...

I think I may give in and go kleemann, I almost bought a 06 E55 for a DD but decided that my old E55 needed to come out of the garage, it had been sitting for about 3 years..

Can't believe I forgot to post the STS equippedm SL500 relic in here. Done up by Mongillo Motors in CT, it makes 416rwhp and 479rwtq at 7 psi with a T67 rear mount turbo. Its a 302hp M119, completely stock from the throttle body down
. T67's and T70's are gold for 4.3 to 6.2 liter engines.

Well it was a universal STS single turbo kit with their "GT67" which is a garrett T67. Back when this was built that kit was probably around 3K plus another 500 for Mercedes-specific fittings and bigger injectors.
A more efficient, faster spooling and more powerful turbo to use for the m113 motors would be a Masterpower or Garrett T70 with a .68 housing. The data points for the 4.3, 5.0 and 5.4 M113's lay perfectly on the T70 turbo compressor map. If cost isn't an issue, a Garrett 60-1 ball bearing turbo with a T4 .81 housing would be killer if you venture into 8+psi but its about twice as much as the $600 T70.
Since its the M119 and it doesn't have a publicly avalible tuner they converted it to megasquirt(only on the fuel system, its more like piggyback ecu like my e320's AEM unit). The newer M113's can be tuned by many different people, the best probably being LET.
Here is an info thread I typed up yesterday:

Based off your parts list that you posted an MB tech I showed this too thinks he may start this on his CLK430 tommorow
he claims half the parts are sitting in his garage. Hell, I would have gone this route. So simple and effective.
The only thing I don't like about that example is the pipe work. It hangs low. On my car I would lose that in 10 minutes driving down my parking garage. Stock height or ML would probably be fine for that.
I'm trying to convince my buddy that on his CLK he should make a smooth funnel addaptor and run the intake charge through a 6" by 1" rectangle pleneum to have more clearance underneath the car. Unless he can fit the charge piping in the exhaust tunnel.
Any IAT data on these? Only other question is to run the pipe up the firewall directly to the intake mani, or run it up front incase a front mount is ever needed for extra cooling.
Man I wish I went this route...anyone want a modded HPS1 kit??

I dont have IAT data for that specific car but in general rear mount turbo's run 120 degrees cooler when compared to a non intercooled engine bay setup v. a non intercooled rear mount setup. It a long car like the sl500 and with it running water/meth inj(which it is) it probably runs near ambient temps which is why it makes so much power at low boost.
EDIT: It sucks yall dont live around me. I do turbo setups for the locals all the time. I did a rear mount setup on a GTO last year and we had it done in 9 hours on friday with lots of breaks inbetween. Rear mount turbo's are easier to do than changing your own oil. :p

2001: Supercharged E55 AMG
Its absolutely no different than putting a Kleeman S/C on. Boost is boost, no other way around it. As long as you have the appropriate turbo on their it will always be more powerful than the S/C equivalent. If E55's had manual transmissions or auto tranny launch control you would see more turbo variants other than the occasional Kleeman build for some rich dude.
Theres a kitted out NA E55 on youtube, claiming 400 whp with everything you said except cams and the pulley.
Rev, burnout, launch

Thats my car before the S/C. Don't know where you got the 400 WHP from, but i've never claimed that!
Car had around 340 WHP and 420 CRANK HP with that setup in Kleemanns dyno.
Going up to 400 N/A WHP you will need to do alot more then my mods!
