Koni's and stock Bilsteins were the same length. No real difference. The main difference is the ride characteristics. I cut my factory springs about 1/2 a coil each. This was not a good match with the factory Bilsteins, as it was a choppy ride. Now that I have the Koni's, the ride is better matched. I'd say the Koni's ride firmer than the factory Bilsteins, but you need that when you have lowering springs. Overall, ride is smooth and sporty.
I've had Koni's on a previous M3/4, and ever since I will always choose Koni (only because I am very familiar with them).
Enjoy!
Thanks in advance

I have Koni yellows on euro spec springs.

The deciding factor in my choice of the Koni’s over the Bilstein HD/Sports was from this compressing graph I found on this or the other MB forum.

I have not adjusted the shocks, but they are set at half a turn back from the stiffest setting. I enjoy the way it rides. It still has the MB feel on the highway and gained strength in the corners.
