motul engine and differential oil for e55??
#2
Ive been trying to find an article I read a while back re: motul. But I can vaguely recall that these were specifically designed and tested for high reving engines like the japanese cars (i.e. Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi).
However, I don't see any reason why you cannot use them in your car so long as you comply with the manufacturer's recommended viscosity.
Personally, I prefer Mobil 1.

Personally i prefer Mobil 1 too.. but i need to be honnest, the Motul 300V competition 15 - 50 are A W E S O M E! only this word to say...
I know, is very expensive, but if you want to mantain your engine like NEW conditions.. don't see other, use the 300V comp..
Anyway, Mobil is a extreme good oil..

Its very safe to use. Motul is good stuff. I use it from time to time. I'm currently running their diff fluid and I like it.
Motul has a nasty smell when it gets smoked so you will know if you toasted your oil.

After about 40 back to back dyno pulls my oil was smoked and it smelled of a mix between dry erase markers, Old cat litter box, and brake cleaner! It can knock you on your butt if you are not ready for it.

Right now I'm using Mobil 1 LOL partly because our shop ran out of Motul. I have a can in my garage I will check what kind of Motul I use. 300v sounds right though.
It is agreed Motul smells terrible.

im planing on using 300v or Htech by motul! but if you guys say that mobil 1 is the safest and the best for our car i guess il have to go with mobil 1. not unless motul is better! thanks!

I recommend you Mobil 1, because is more easy to find, is a little cheap than 300V comp, our engines not run superior than 600RPM's & mobil 1 is really a extreme performance engine oil, anyway the 300v is nicely for me, i can't use that oil in my car because here the 300v cost aprox 40$ PER LITRE! & is very very difficult to find that (AAAND yes smell like a wet cat same as HOLLEYBOY "MBH Motorsports" Says) hahahahaha...
the 5w50 to 15w50 Mobil range are perfect for our cars depend the seasons you run
Hope this help

i think you guys are forgetting something very important
the 300V competition is a racing oil
which just like any other racing oil is meant to be changed after each race
it's not going to offer good protection at 3k/5k or whatever intervals you change your oil.
if you want to go Motul, you might want to look at the 8100 xcess oil...

The 300V comp in our M3 are changed at 8k, this exeed the sae/dot aprovemments, says the oil need to be in work conditions for 10k or more an are superior than the API SL+ & JASO regulations,
Heres the link for the 300V for our contry seasons:
http://www.motul.com.au/product_line...4stroke07.html
http://www.motul.com.au/product_line...4stroke02.html
the first FACTORY LINE are API SL & JASO, the 300V comp exeeds this all standards
But this, resume in a little words, the hi cost made impossible use this oil for daily drive, really i recommend Mobil 1 (for me is one of the best) Never ever have any problem with any car & we use Mobil 1 for all hi perf cars in our workshop, actually use in my E55 without any problem at all (you need to review your viscosity grade for your country seasons) we need the 10-30 / 15-50 range, couse we have 28°+ all year
Hope that help
