i actually just ordered a set of depo headlights (halogen) and also installed hid fogs and low beams. I followed ohlords advice before and polished the lens and installed the brighter bulbs but my lighting was still poor. Now the lighting is great, cutoff point is perfect, and the car looks so much better. Let me know if you want i can post up pics (my car looks very similar to a 99 e55/black). Also make sure you buy them from the guy that clarifies they are depo, i had a set before that looked the same but were terrible

Basically, Depos will not work well with the HIDs that (I'm assuming) you have on your E55. You either need to convert to halogen with the Depo, or you (ideally) need to cut open the Depo and retrofit a pair of HID projectors as detailed in this post:

Also check the classifieds, there may be a modified pair for sale.

I have the depos in my car with Bi-Xenon audi projectors and the lighting is phenomenal. I have 6000k HID with it and on low beam the visibility is excellent. And on high beam, haha dont even get me started. Let me just say my high beams light up entire houses, and even light up tree tops. It is sort of a pain in the *** to do the retrofit, but after its done, the result is no less than spectacular.
The depo's original projector blows complete *** as the people above me have clearly discovered. Especially if you are using HID's. Unless your using a halogen bulb, don't waste your time with depo's if your not going to modify them. they sure look cool and everything but you probally would have better lighting with the OEM headlights and hid's. (Not that im recommending that)
