2001 E55 w/ 109k miles...what should I pay?

Found a very clean 1 owner trade at a small local lot (bay area, ca). They are asking $14,999 has all options other than the 2 tone interior. Has nav, parktronic, ventilated seats. According to carfax all work has been done at local stealership. Love the car and just don't want to over pay. Thank you all, Nick

Great price, but have the car checked out w/ an indy mechanic to make everything is legit w/ the car. Cost of repairs for AMG is pretty expensive. Price is tempting but I think you can get a 2003 E55 for a very decent price + CPO from a dealer...good luck

if it checks out, pay what it's worth to you. there's always better or worse deals that are going to come up once you buy a car. make sure the car is solid and maintenance has been adressed properly.

also, check around and see what similar cars are selling for. The downside is that even though you might see different cars at different prices you will never know the condition of those cars unless you go see them in person or you get a PPI.

i noticed that prices have climbed lately(within last month) on these cars, especially in Cali.

Going to look at it on Wed...How do they ride?

I'm leaving a 740iL BMW for this car and I absolutely love the way th BMW rides very very smooth. And I have a bad back so its a necessity.

My dad has an M3 and can't stand the way it rides...you feel small pebbles on the road.

I haven't driven an E55 before...Anything other than normal used car stuff to listen for?

I know to check the pixels on the dash and make sure she shifts smooth.

stonecloser, given your bad back, I think you're better off with your E38 esp if it has the comfort seats. The W210 E55 rides decently well (for a sports sedan) but the 7er should ride more plush.

Price seems a little higher for the miles. The parktronic and vent seat bring the price up a little, but I would still try to knock a couple grand off the price.

Bear in mind that very few people can buy this car (how many banks will write a check on a car with over 100k miles) so the dealer has to be wanting to sell.

Can I get a copy of the AD? I am working on an insurance claim on my 02 E55 with the exact same equipment and it would really help me establish my value. I will not pursue the car till you decide to pass on it.

I have to get rid of the 7ER for a lot of reasons

And I'd really love to have a MB, always had BMW's and Audis and want something different. I'm gonna go take a long test drive in one today and see how it shapes out. Was going to get a W220 but the insurance is much more expensive for a slower, more common car
