is it possible to convert a 210 e55 to stick, maybe using a t56 with a custom adapter plate?

i don't know where you're located, but i think in the UK w210 6's had an option for a manual trans. if somehow you could adapt it to the v8 block with the correct bolt pattern bellhousing, i don't see how mechanically i couldn't be done (using all the clutch linkages and pedals from the manual car). but the electronics of it all, thats another story...

The issue will probably be in the electronics. The computer will be looking for shift points and a lot of other things and won't be seeing them. Also, there's an issue of whether the manually tranny you find can support the almost 400 lbs ft torque the motor produces, which isn't a crazy amount, but is more than a lot of stock manual trannys are rated for.

An SL500 transmission will fit to an E55/E430/C43 motor... However, the shift points ECU will still be a difficulty...

I think I heard Kleeman used to sell one,and it was alot of $$$$.
In the 80's they used to make manual trannies for V6and V8 MB's like the Hammer and other specialty built MB v8's in Europe.

Honestly, the stock OEM transmission really starts to come alive when you put more power through it. In stock form it may seem kind of slushy, but it does a pretty impressive job of putting the power down if you tune the car properly. If it really bothers you that much you can always do Tranny ECU upgrade.
the manual swap will probably cost half the value of the car, if not more... its not really worth it, you are better off spending that money on performance mods (or just selling it and getting another car).
Keep it auto and enjoy it for what it is.
