I've looked at engines on car-part.com and it seems that you can get away with $2500 for the engine alone. I'm not exactly sure what else would be needed to swap a new engine in though. I've never actually done much on a merc. I'd expect some type of programming via star is required, or possibly a new ECU? someone else chime in!

Was the $2500 engine from a Kompressor car, or was it a regular naturally aspirated one ? Somehow I think the E55 motor has upgraded guts...maybe not.
