Appraise My E55...
- Black with silver/black two tone
- 88K
- Heated/Air Conditioned seats (pretty rare iirc)
Good:
- All fluids have been changed, including AT fluid w/ pan drop and wipe down
- Full synthetic change every 5k
- Not a daily driver, typically get it out 1-2 times a week, no snow
- Garaged
- Tires (Sumo hrzIII) have less than 1k on them
- Runs great, no drivetrain issues whatsoever in the 3 years I've owned
- Body in good but not mint shape (typical dings that an '01 would have)
Not as good:
- Outer dial pixels are out (aren't they all)
- Rear sunshade has been broken since before I bought it, frankly didn't find a need to replace it
- Only paintwork I know of is on front right quarter panel, I put a small dent in it in a garage mishap, had a trusted local bodyshop repair
- CD changer comes and goes...the "corn pad and electrical tape trick" worked great, I just need to do it again.
Bottom line, I love the car. Best color combo going IMO. Love the vented seats, they are a God-send in the summer. 90% set on keeping it, but there is one particular 911 I have had my eye on for a while. Kinda miss the left foot action. I wanted to get your opinions as fellow W210 AMG'ers and most of you willl sell someday or have sold recently.
So...if you are bored, ballpark me what you would ask and/or a price you think it would go for (if different...ie ask $50K but take $47K...using fake numbers not to taint the process with my own opinion of course).
Thanks guys...
Mslaughter that was about what I was thinking.
ruBENZ, love the idea but I am "garaginally challenged". Have a 2 car garage for the E55 and my wife's suv, have my work vehicle in the driveway so basically out of room. Next house (someday) will have 3 or 4 if I can swing it.
Happy with your 996? Do you worry about the IMS or RMS problems and/or has yours had any major engine work done? That is my concern about switching...the E55 drivetrain is in fact bulletproof, no one says that about the 996 mk1's at all. I feel like I would be getting into a 996 before I can truly afford it (not the purchase price but the upkeep). I am 30 with a one year old and hopefully more kids on the way in the next few, I really don't want to hear the words "engine" and "rebuild" in the same sentence right now.
On the flipside, I am young and there will always be PCars out there...
I am on the other side of the market. I am looking to buy and have the cash to do so. I have looked at a few for sale here in SoCal. The one I like the best is a 2000 E55 93K miles silver/black w all records and 2 keys. Owner will not budge below 13K for the last 2 months. I feel 11.5K would make the deal happen. The owner has has strong emotional ties to the car having owned since 04. We will see.

I'm also in the same situation but I've been looking at an older 1996 911C4S
with very low miles for its age. The owner won't go below asking price
even with a certified check on my hand (not full amount though). Told them
to come to the bank with me and we'll settle the rest there but no deal.
But I'm determined.
Tell us how yours pan out. Would love to hear it.

E55 - Fast, quiet and comfortable and did I say fast

911 - Fast, not so quiet and race car handling
With prices so reasonable on these cars, why not buy one of each and get the opportunity to choose your weapon for the day
To the OP: I apologize for getting your thread off track.

FWIW, spoke with the dealer today and the car had in fact sold. Kinda bummed...was a 2000 Millennium Edition totally optioned out, AWD, Alcantara, nav, etc...
Will probably get serious about moving the E55 in the next few months in order to be better prepared if a deal comes around....
.....but on the other hand I love my car.
It needs work,it has had body damage.14K can buy so much more

As far as "needs work" and "body damage"...the pixels out are only on the lower right gauge and the sunshade were like that that when I bought it and I was not bothered by the lack of either. The body damage was small and the result of a 5mph garage tap (done by me unfortunately)...true, it is paintwork, but it was not related to any sort of serious accident. Pic:

Anyways, I do appreciate all the feedback...pretty torn about what to do, maybe sleeping on it a month or two will do some good.
