Front wheel fit in the trunk as a spare?
Can somebody let me know if the front wheel (Aero Monoblock II) fit in the trunk? I would like to use the front wheel as a spare instead of the steel rim. Thanks.

After writing this post, I did a google search and I read in other forums that the 1999 E55 came with a full size front monobloc spare. After the facelift, they did away with the expensive rim and put a regular steel wheel in the trunk. I guess my question has been answered if I did my research before I post.

wider tires
Hi Fabio, you mention that you have 285/30's at the back....I talk to the tirerack guy when I went and order my tires and he told me not to go beyond 275/35...I ask him why and he said it might throw off the handling of the car and the reading might be off?? Have your tires rubbing and how is the handling...do you have any problems with them?? I told him I'll have to come back to him later for the order.
If tirerack is trying to prevent someone from purchacing what they want for the size...I'm not rediculous with the size as I ask you guys if the one size up would fit. I might just go to discount tires then. Much cheaper and they dont give me grief.

Snoozie: No rub at all in my car (Euro model "lowered than US"). Handling in my car is exelent with the RE050-A pole position i'm very very happy with them. I'm not sure how about US spec cars, don't know about flare fenders in the US spec (i think Euro and Us has the same fenders), but my car don't rub at all Front/Rear/splash shields. here we go some pics. maybe the tires looks a little wider in the rear for the wheel. but the handling is exelent (Koni sport adjustables installed too)

What do you mean subs?? The car looks great. Very nice and low. The beauty is that the rear wheels are not buckling inward like some of those cars that sits really low. So you only put koni shocks??? The springs are original? Wow, I never knew Mercedes make different springs for different market. Wonder why?? talk about a waste of time and money.
I run the OEM Euro spec springs on stock spring pads, only Koni externally adjustables all round. I mean the car now sits just a little lower (1/4") cause i put some subs in the trunk (Enclosure box with subwoofers). Here are some actual pics of the car with 255/35 front 285/30 rear RE050A pole Position:
Actually is not my house, is a friend's house. Hope you like it: Enjoy

Wow! I like the way the car looks! Very nice. I wish the us spec car would be lower. I don't really want to put any mod to the springs and shocks...just want wider tires. Now you got me looking for the Aero 2-piece very nice house by the way.

front wheel spare
My rim finally came today all the way from cali. Cost me $105 plus $35 shipping. The wheel came from a 2001 E55. I couldn't believe the parts place left the vin# of the car still attach to it. Well I finally had a real full size spare

spare wheel
The measurement is 8X18 ET31. I had an old Dunlop 245/40-18 tire which I put in it and the wheel fit the wheel well perfectly with a lot of play around it. I am very satisfied with this set up. Here are some pictures of the wheel in my trunk.
