I would try to have someone that is local to the car go take a look and have a prepurchase inspection done by a MB Dealership. The inspection will probably be over the top on its recommendations but if there is something major you will know.
After you are satisfied that the car is what you want then you can simply call that dealer and make your deal. You don't have to go through ebay, although they do offer some extra protection you may want to look into.
Good luck, I like this car, particularly the two-tone seats, but it has had three owners and it is a FL car so watch for salt air rust.

Loaded! Parktronic, COMAND, ventilated seats, phone, and the light colored wood is unusual too.

Is 2-tone really Designo? My 2002 brochure lists 2-tone as a no-cost choice, as was monotone seating. The listing for Designo cars was "silver" (desert silver) and "mocha", both with one-tone seats and a third lighter wood color.

none, yet
I'll put the dealership on my list to call to see if I can find out a little more about the car. I would have to pay about 1k for shipping I think. Does anyone have a sense of a fair price to offer for this car?

I remember doing some research when originally looking and found multiple places saying the 2-tone was Designo. It was quite awhile ago and I have no idea where I actually read that though.

I think the controls are just photographed poorly, and have kind of a lint on them. The light wood in that car is unusual, i don't recall ever seeing another W210 E55 with light wood that wasn't a Designo.
And regarding designo from earlier...I am pretty sure two tone was just a different choice. My C43 had two tone, and there were no designo models of that car sold in NA, IIRC.

Nice
It does look like a nice car. I am not sure about the two tone and the ligth colored wood trim though....I would have liked it better with either...not both...but that's me. have a PPI done because they can look nice but at 65 mph could have steering shaking due to front end suspension needs. For $15k this car is a steel (assuming PPI is OK). Can't get a KIA for that money, and it wont be as safe as confortable as powerfull and it won't last half as long as the E55. Cheers.
