The best $700 I've spent on my car v. new brakes

My front brakes needed replacing and my friend took care of it today. The front rotors were toast and the pads were almost metal on metal. I thought the car stopped quick before and it's no comparison now. It was totally worth the money.

FWIW, it took him about 30 minutes to do the rotors and pads. Shops will probably charge you 2.5 hours of labor for the job.

New OEM rotors, Akebono pads and Goodridge SS brake lines.

And the new Mercedes edition F150! It belongs to the owner of the shop and from what I've heard people actually ask him if MB started making pick ups.

When I first got my Rotors thru ups, I was amazed at how beautifully put together and how massive they are.

Yeah, I felt a little better about dropping so much on rotors after seeing how nice they were.

This is on top of the things to do while the car is sleeping through the winter. Where did you buy the rotors and for how much? I have the same brake pad shoes they are great just make sure to wear them in softly and remember they need to heat up to get a good bite, but overall less brake dust and they stop really well.

Brake lines? where ? link

Thanks for the pics

Akebono - Highly recommend

I got the rotors from Autohaus for $233 each and the brake lines from Tire Rack for $124 after shipping.

I'll be doing my fronts and rears sometime over the winter. How is the initial bite on the Akebonos? I love the feel of the OEM pads, but had the dust like everyone else.

I have no complaints about them and they even work well when cold. My brakes were so bad that I wouldn't want to compare to the pads that were on it (not even sure what kind they were). I was only a few days away from being metal on metal.

The rears will need to be done within the next 3,000-4,000 miles. I'm probably going to be selling the car soon so I doubt I'll do them. The car could use close to $500-$1,000 worth of work before it's ready to be sold though. I might skip on new front tires and just put the Monoblocks back on since that would save me quite a bit.

Yea then don't bother unless you sell to someone you know.

But if you did keep it the rear brake would be a nice help...I've recently debated selling my E55 also..so we'll see
