My best is 23 on highway averaging 70mph
typicality around 22mpg
in city i get 16 mpg or so
is this normal?

My best is 24.8mpg averaging 55mph or so (Sac to Concord on 65 > 80 > 5 > 12 > 160 > 4). I typically get 12-13mpg around town, but that's with a lot of stop and go driving.
When I got my best that also included a few 100+ runs on I5.

My best is 25 on the freeway averaging 70mph. However, I do mostly city driving with a few short runs on the freeway. Using an application on my Iphone, I actually charted a year of driving averaging 15.98 mpg. That said, your figures appear to be normal.

Kidding aside, I get 15 mpg combined. Not really paying attention on my speed.
On my last long haul to Canada, I get 19-23 mpg at speeds between 75 to 80 mph. I always have cruise control on, but I turn it off on winding freeways between California and Oregon borders.

I've gotten as high as 25.6 before I hit traffic on the highway. I average 18-20mpg daily driving and anywhere from 12 to 17 doing city. My w211 gets like 10-12mpg babying it around town and the highest I've seen so far was 13mpg. :S

The W210 E55 actually has very good MPG. Freeway 26. This is not a small car with V8 5.4L + 18" 275 in the rear tires, the mileage actually is incredible good. I am very happy with the mileage. Wife used to have V6 Camry 04 and that thing is about 30MPG and its Camry !

My on-board computer tells me 18.5 average over 2800 miles, but I see 24 on city freeway drives with 20% city drive, and 14.5 to 16 on city drive only. I drive the car pretty hard and have little patience for moving chicanes, I.E. Camry drivers. So the right pedal is being used as intended by God.

For me, I am currently 100% stock. But to average that, it was cruise control the entire trip. All highway miles. Around town I am averaging about 15 mpg give or take a few depending on my driving.

Over the last year+, I've consistently averaged ~21mpg in mixed city driving around Atlanta. That is usually half surface streets, half interstate. Stop and go often. I think its great considering the tires, engine, weight. I think I pulled 25mpg on a long highway trip doing 70-75mph.

I've put about 2,500 miles on mine since I bought it - and I reset mpg and average speed calculator when I got the car.
My average, with about 65% freeway (75+ mph), and the rest city driving - a good mix of suburbia and solid stop & go traffic... has been 20.8 mpg so far - and I've verified that with two separate tanks.
Freeway-only trips at 75-85ish MPH seems to be in the 25 MPG range for me - and I'm fairly liberal was the gas pedal.

This gives me hope! I just got the green light from the lady on a w210 e55 but was concerned about the fuel consumption. My current DD is a 1999 Z3 2.8 and I get about 26 either city or highway. We just moved to a house (with a nice garage) about a mile from the highway, and then it is all highway to the office from there.
I'm pretty excited to get the go ahead from her as she hated my old W124. I do a lot of highway driving, to the tune of 30k a year, and I can live with 25 on the highway.
