Clean your MAFS gents..

Our cars love a nice clean MAF. Very easy to do- and right away you will notice response throttle and smoothness of powerband. I clean mine every oil change with CRC MAF cleaner. Spray it down, let it air dry. Done & Done (5 min job)

You will thank me

* Also if your running K&N like me. Make sure when your recharge them aka clean. Make sure to let air dry and wipe down any excess oil. Wipe them down with a towel and don't over spray the oil. Light sprays left/right. Less is more. Running K&N for 8 years never had an issue even w/the E55. It's usually user error (not wiping them down when new and installing or air dry) I let mine sit in the sun for 4- 5 hrs

My car has been feeling kinda slow recently. I was about to buy a new MAF but I guess I'll try cleaning it first. I just did the fuel filter and threw in a bottle of techron but it feels about the same.

Glad you brought up Techron my old indy guy who was a mechanic in Germany swears on Techron. I read a pretty good review on Amazon. The stuff really does work. I had a hesitation on my E55 once. It was getting the hesitation in traffic when I would almost come to a stop.. I dropped in 2 bottles full tank, let it work overnight and the next day.. All was well and hesitation was gone.

My maintenance is pretty simple

1.Oil change every 4k Mobil1 0w40
2.Clean MAF
4.2 bottles of Techron / keep those injectors clean

Every 6k I clean K&N

*you might want to try soft ECU key trick. Problem with these cars is that if you hit a lot of traffic or drive slow for a few weeks they tend to adapt to it and drive slowww. I'll do the soft reset here and there

You just have to do the WOT every once in a while with these cars. The ecu adapt to the sloooooooooooowness to easily. I might get a bottle of CRC MAF spray can cleaner....I have not clean my MAF ever....

Haha the resistor does clean off the debris (heats up on it's own) but, you can really feel the difference when you clean it.

WOT or ECU trick works fine when she gets sluggish..

Yep, I think MAF clean is a good idea, reached 100K mark this week.

I have tried K&N in many different cars, stock and modded and I came to the conclusion that they don't do anything except require cleaning and mess up air mass sensors.

Maybe you cannot feel difference cause 3-5hp in a 350-400hp engine is inperceptible other than a dyno test. but we do some dyno test here before and after and i can tell you "yes" it makes difference in hp/tq/air flow mate.

Old thread........but:

Last summer I did clean my Air Mass Sensor. I drove my car after and, well it felt the same...There was no miraculous increase in response of the throttle. Perhaps it was performing as best as it could.

Please don't get me wrong. I have owned it now for 2 years and 1 month. I love this car. Great ride. Smooth on highway. Decent power. (Don't like the electronic stifling of the engine on a full throttle acceleration from a dead stop.) I guess I'm so used to 500-700 hp engines when I'm out "playing". Sorry, I digress.

I ordered a new OEM Air Mass Sensor from autohousAZ last year around November. I just installed it yesterday. Yeah, I know....

WOW! Now I see what my 2002 E55 should have been all this time. It made a difference.

I went out today and turned off my electronic traction. See the results in the pictures. Too bad my car won't spin both tires all the time. Every now and again it did spin both. Once again, I guess I am just used to my 1970 musclecars with Sure Grip differentials.

I like it. I have had a smile on my face all day.

I realize it is not designed like my other cars, nor in the same catagory, but at least now, I know it will perform better then it did two days ago. Any way, just though that I would share my experience. New tires?

How many miles on the car? Just curious how long until the MAF adapts to the old values... if the power lasts for over a month, I'll consider swapping mine as well.

I might try cleaning mine. I'm at almost 114,000 and haven't done it (bought car at 91,000) and doubt it has been.

Hope it works. It is not a compicated part. I didn't really dwell on the fact that cleaning mine did not change anything, but installing a new one did. I do like the responce of the new one. Pricey, but I have to say it is worth it.
