How many active members driving W210 E55's

I've had mine for two years and never have retracted the sunroof. I always drive with it tilted up. I don't know that I've ever seen a picture of one with the roof open.
Really like the W221 in your avatar. Enjoy!

Beautiful, low mileage example - congrats! Did you find it in Germany? I've never noticed a facelifted model without the NAV antenna on the roof (or is it there and I just can't see it?).

There was a beautiful black 2001 with 58,000miles for 12,000EUR for two weeks and now it's sold! There cars are now the best value you can get. I'm tempted to buy 5 "on stock"
There's still one nice Japan import for sale for 10,000EUR but it has no bodykit. I wonder why.

There was a NAV antenna on both passenger doors (Japan version). The rear passenger door rusted through thanks to it, so I replaced them.
So you never drive with your sunroof opened, only tilted? I prefer opened and I like the size of it too
Btw. thanks.. this is my W221 during my trip to Spain.

Thanks! It is Japan import which can be found sometimes in Germany via specialized importers. Mine is 12/2000.

I agree with you - these cars offer a lot for the money!
The car in the link confuses me. It looks like what we call a pre-facelift car in the US (without the updated rocker panels, etc.) which were available 1999 <. But it has a facelifted interior and outside mirrors. Someone here will know what's going on with it.
Yep, I've never even opened the sunroof. Always tilted up. I've only opened the shade a few times. Maybe I will try it out this weekend!

Yeah, the car in the link has been sitting there for several months and nobody bought it. I reckon something is wrong with it.
Enjoy your weekend!

1999 E55 AMG, 1994 W124 (RIP)
The 500E motor is definitely a dream to drive. Much more raw feeling than the E55's. However, the 5 speed tranny in the 210 compared to the 4 speed in the 124, along with the extra 30ish hp, makes the E55 obviously faster. I can especially feel that in the 60-150 mph range. I'm positive the E55 would really start to pull away from the 124 around 100mph. 0-60 seems fairly similar to the 124...since both cars are pretty bad off the line (although I'm sure the E55 is .5 - .7 sec faster). Limited slip in either would help fix that problem though. The rear wheels want to spin what seems WAY more often than in the 124...I suppose it's the extra torque along with some not-so-awesome tires. Also, I enjoyed the steering mechanism in the 124 more than what is in the 210. The 124's steering just felt more spot on than the 210. As far as ride quality/suspension goes between the two...I can't really offer my opinion on that yet because my 124 was lowered and had sport shocks and the E55 is stock (....for now!!!!). I'll update in a few months when I drop the 210 and replace the shocks with koni adjustables and also the front and rear sway bars. I LOVED my 124 and will miss it for the rest of my life (it was my first MB), but the E55 is a better daily driver (except the Recaro seats in the 124 were soooooo comfortable).

I have been looking at the grey one but a little bit too pricey i want a sedan and facelift because i have a engine from a facelift so that wont work out with a pre-facelift which i have now so i have been trying too hunt down a black one and rust free but it is hard well i just need too have my eyes on mobile.de
Also, check out auction sites such as:
http://www.autoaccessjapan.com
Once you register, you will see prices, sometimes the cars are really cheap there.

Maybe you can ask specialized Japan importers which can hunt down a nice one in Japan for you.

2002 E 55
Bought my third one
Originally I had a 99 E55,my dad liked it so much I gave it to him and bought an 01,which I drove for about 9 years as my daily driver, just loved the car and sold it with about 148,000,full service history,Mobil One only, cat exhaust etc. Wonderful car that's still being driven here in Pittsburgh. scrambled and bought an 01 E55,west coast car with service history and about 85,000 on the clock. My daily driver,I've avoided the supercharged cars and may just keep this one. My fun cars are a wide body 77 911Turbo,a 73 alfa GT Junior hillclimb car,a BMW 2002 rally car and a 66 fastback 289 hipo for road racing.
With out a doubt I Think the 99-02 cars are just an outstanding drive, well engineered not too much over the top but outstanding value, great drive ability, handling, responsive and a joy to own.

Nice wagon!
I'm not new to the forum (long time lurker), but I'm new to AMG. I just picked up a '99 E55 with 116k for a daily driver. Doing a lot of reading...lots of resource here.
This is a replacement for a '98 E300 TurboDiesel that got totaled a few months ago.

Congratulations! Hope they're genuine miles though. A lot of shops here tend to clock theirs, especially if they're imports.

Looking to get a W210 E55 AMG 2001 from toronto at 7500CAD @ 125000Kms on the dash. Im just worried about the damn salt they put in canada for the roads during winter. This is gonna be my DD and since Im just graduating from Uni I wouldnt want to drive a rust box around. Nevertheless any one own this model in a snowbelt state?

Hi, Shortfatlips here. I would like to introduce myself. I am from Manila, Philippines, Have been a member sporadically (not by design) of MBWorld.org almost 10 years now. I drive a W210 E60; Need to fix an W124 E60, and have been (Loyally using) with the Manufacturer since I was in High school. I have a question about the W210 front rotors if anybody has experienced vibrations before during and after, re-facing and changing and having to reface the second set again...Pads let's not go there anymore...Yes with even the kitchen sink included I have done it...My next chapter is getting a second set of rotors...? Is there something I don't know that is out there???Puzzled and nobody will believe the ridiculousness of the predicament...And the Monster isn't even my daily drive...
Would appreciate a response...shortfatlips@spp9.com
