OEM Springs - Linear or Progressive

Does anyone know if the OEM US spec or OEM Euro spec springs are Linear or Progressive?

Linear. Progressive springs have coils closer to each other one half of the spring, pretty much...I'm sure some are different...

What Neanicu888 said.

The stock springs and my H&Rs were not progressive.

what's the difference between linear and progressive?
which one is preffered?

I will soon have a set off Vogtlands installed on my C43 with my 14 years old stock factory shox.
Wonder what kind of a ride I will get?
Waterbed or rocking chair ride ala Cadillac from the 70's?

Vogtlands are they progressive or linear?

Progressive springs are supposed to improve handling during cornering but usually lack the comfort of linear springs.
I doubt that any good brand that makes springs for Mercedes will make the car feel like a Cadillac from the 70s. And Vogtland is a good brand, but don't know whether their springs are linear or progressive for a C43...most likely progressive.

I ment I might get a waterbed/rocking chair ride using my 14 years old shox with Vogtland lowering springs?
My car has only covered 103.000KM, approx 65000 miles in 14 years.

Using lowering springs with old factory shox might be a bad combo?

I've read quite a lot of threads here where people installed only lowering springs and used their old shocks. Some of them are happy, some not so happy with the ride.
Basically, when you're using lowering springs with touring shocks, you'll be at the bottom travel of the shock all the time, which might make the ride kind of rough, not to mention what that'll do to 14 yrs old shocks! Still,I don't believe it will feel like a 70s Cadillac...

I'm running the stock shocks with my H&Rs and the car rides like ****. I don't see new shocks (would go with Bilstein sports) helping much.

yeah, i think i will get more wear n tear issues on my stock factory shox with lowering springs.

in the near future i might get koni yellow adjustable shox for my ride.
everyone else gets billy sport shox, i guess koni or billy's are the only brands available with decent price tags?

I've had koni's yellows and FSD, love both. The yellows were much harder in their softest setting, but the FSDs hold their ground.

My question was not for upgrading spring, but rather seeing if my current springs were put back together correctly.

I've heard that cylinder looking spring can be progressive.

Unfortunately, I had the dreaded spring perch repair done on the front passenger side by a body shop. They may have reinstalled the spring upside down. The car's suspension has been responding differently between the front passenger and driver side. Notice how the markings on the springs are at different coil counts.
