Quote: Dang, I'm really thinking of removing my secondary cats. But then I was thinking of getting a pair of high flows.. (200cel) but now I'm thinking.. Hmm save $200 and go straight flush without any cats.....

I could always try it and see how I like it. 2.5 ? how long of piping do I need?

Links anyone?
I want to do high-flow primary cats and headers on mine too. Does anyone have any experience or feedback about these?

Any clips of the what it sounds like from the inside?
I made this today as I was on my way to the shop for my exhaust work. Its the interior sound pre-modification.

There is a slight clicking noise and a minor muffling of sound due to the camera case, but I've listened to the clip with headphones, and you definitely get a good idea of what the stock exhaust sounds like from inside the vehicle. The post modification video will be much clearer in sound and uploaded soon.

And... excuse my blurred face. I did't want to over expose myself in public

Looking forward to the after mods video.
I'm trying to avoid exhaust drone as I like to take my E55 on road trips.

I made an expensive exhaust mistake on my Mini once.
Don't want to do that again

Thanx M3RC3D3SE55AMG.

buy used cats
Guys,
Just a fyi....

I offset some of my mod expenses by selling my cats back on eBay. Some guy in Jersey pay me $150 for them. I found this website on the net that buys used cats but I think you can get more thru eBay.... http://www.sellyourcatsdirect.com/

You're welcome!

To avoid drone, the x-pipe is a must when stripping the resonator and secondary cats out. If you really need pleasant highway tones though, I would consider the x-pipe and an aftermarket resonator? Saves weight, alters sound but keeps you "droneless"?

Maybe I'm wrong?

I was supposed to keep my removed units and sell them as scrap metal. I was so excited to hear the exhaust mods, I left without taking them Lol

You could have sell the cats for good money....not scrap metal

Absolute double failure by me here Lol

Not only did I have the wrong idea for capitalising on the opportunity in the first place. I got distracted and didn't do either. Total loss

As promised... Here is a video where you can hear the interior sound of the x-pipe/resonator delete/secondary-cat removal modification on my E55. Video was shot the day after the mod was completed. Video is quite long, but I always find the videos showing the sound of W210's to be teasingly short. I hope this satisfies peoples need to hear the W210's N/A V8...

To hear the fullest possible sound, use headphones. Laptop speakers do not do the audio justice. External PC speakers with low end response will have a realistic playback too...

Enjoy!

Great video.

I already did the resonator delete.
Sounds like the x-pipe/cat delete doesn't make too much more difference in sound from the inside.

Thank you M3RC3D3SE55AMG

You're most welcome Dan04mcs! That's very interesting you say the extra modifications don't affect the sound much more than just the resonator delete. Although, it is the resonator which is designed to alter sound, unlike the cats. I wonder what the performance differences are between the resonator delete and the resonator/secondary-cat delete? Someone will know the answer to that question in here I'm sure...

I don’t think there is some hp gain with resonator or secondary cat delete,, it just help with more flow,

but i think, in some cases of O2 sensors, it needs a back pressure from the resonator....

You're most welcome, and thank you for the compliment Zayed! You're in the UAE, maybe we could arrange to meet and make some videos of your car!?

You're kidding? That should be good for the neighbours!

I don't know for sure, but I swear I can feel the car adjusting itself to the changes. The gear shifts relative to rpm's while not on WOT are altering constantly. There feels like there is more torque from 2000rpm and up, but this could just be a "placebo effect" of the new noise and wishful thinking for more power. What do you think desired_speeds?

Let me know what you think of this... The latest update for my E55 project. In this video you can watch the process of the resonator delete/secondary-cat removal/x-pipe install modification being performed by Fox Skyline Exhausts in Dubai, UAE.

Enjoy!

Nice exhaust work and nice video! She sounds sweet!

Did the exhaust shop make you wear any PPE during the filming? Most shops in the US won't allow you in for safety/insurance reasons.

I don't know the specifics of UAE health/safety rules and regulations etc, but I was cleared by the garages high level management to film

thats normal as the power band gets shifted and it ends up shifting at different RPMs.
