[QUOTE=kaype;6240721]Several Updates...
I threw out the SL55 722.643 Transmission and installed a SL65 722.649 instead. Shifting is nicer in some kind i cant really explain
722.649 Electrohydraulic Unit
torqueconverter from the 649
torqueconverter from the 643
What are the internal differences and external differences between .643 and .649? Or is it just the board? Can you retro fit between the 2 or just easier to swap out trans? Any other work required that you can think of to swap out in w215 CL55 kompressor?
Mick

a few updates...
last month i started the upgrade of my S/C IC System.
I threw out the small W220 S55 Cooler and replaced it with one from a C32, after that i installed a 2nd CWA50 Pump and a additional cooler from a S400CDI. So now i got 2 Pumps, 3 Intercoolers and WAY cooler IAT!

You can be sure ... they never will unless i take the car :-D
You cant fit an SLR Charger plug n play ... it wont fit. As far as i knew the turbine of the SLR Charger is teflon coated and it has lower tolerances in the production but the gears are the same ... but i am not sure 100%.
Dude, you really need to learn how to quote ;-)

A question for Fabian
Hi Fabian,
I have a question about the first video you posted of your wagon with the 722.643 tranny. I have a 2001 e55 wagon VIN WDB2102741B142933, I have had it for a year now (its a Japanese import) and it initially came in with a defective tranny which wouldn't shift beyond 2nd gear, I had it repaired.
In your video while manual shifting I see it reflecting 5 in the transmission display on the dash but mine only goes from 1, 2, 3, 4 & D. Is something wrong with mine or is yours that way cause of the tranny change.
Rgds,
Al.

Hey Al,
yours i original, you dont have M Mode, so you cant have a "5" in the Cluster Display. So dont worry, everything is fine :-)

What parts did u change to get M mode, just the tranny and TCU ?, and what is an EGS. This is my 3rd w210, I had a 1997 e320 with the straight 6 and a 1998 e320 with a V6.
Thanks for your help,
Al.

W210 has no M-Mode. That what you think is only the normal shifting any Mercedes has.
I have a SL65 Transmission and CLK-DTM TCU Software. EGS = TCU
EGS = Elektronische Getriebe Steuerung
TCU = Transmission Control Unit

if if I wanted to do a slightly budget build accessorywise on trans, what paddle shifters, tcu tune etc would you recommend. Remember it's a stock 2002 in great shape! Just want paddles but a little performance helps as long as install isn't crazy and looks oem'ish

Keep it OEM. Paddles without M-Mode are useless, M-Mode without transmission change is not possible ... so, keep it as it is :-)

that is what i say, you dont shift gears over the lever, you just limit the top gear the transmission is shifting in. if your transmission is in 2nd gear and you push minus your gear is limited to the 4th gear ... the transmission dont shifts in 1st gear!
So paddles with OEM transmission and TCU is useless. If you want paddles and use them like they are supposed to be used you also need to change your transmission to a W211 E55 Transmission and also to a modified TCU Software that supports the old W210 electronics (switch instead of button to change driving programm) with modified Diff ratio (2.82 instead of 2.65!)
Otherwise paddles make no sense.

As i wrote, CLK-DTM TCU. But i used W211 E55 TCUs as well, original with 2.65 ratio and modified to 2.82 ratio ... both worked but it needs to have an old version on the TCU on it, otherwise you cant change the drivingprogramm as the w211 has s button for S/C/M and the w210 only has a switch to switch between S and W.

I've been working on this for years. W210. 55 me2.0. Bought 3.06 diff from c32.
Bought new blank egs51 TCU but need a 2000 c43 owner with tiptronic to make a copy of their tcu as both cars use 021-545-8832.
But if I got the c55 coding from his egs52 the this would be the answers to my prayers lol. I would have 2.82 ratio but egs52 is easy enough to change ratio. What part number is the EGS?

afaik EGS52 wont work with ME2.0. I dont think that is what you are praying for? :-)
i tried it in a '99 E44 4matic (probably this is exactly the TCU you want ... W210 E55 with 3.06) and it wont work. I dont know what TCU/ECU Combination Zayeds friend used...

No worries. I thought that particular C55 came from the factory with egs52? That's how I read it anyway. I was hoping it was factory and what combination of TCU coding. Because that means me2.0 people may have hope!

i wont believe that until i´ve seen this work ... as i tried it for myself -> EGS52 with ME2.0 is KNEW that it will not work, the ME2.0 even does not recognize the EGS52 at all... i wish i could install a EGS52 in our W210 E55 4matic Station :-(
#021 Partnumber is not a EGS52!

Been sitting here for 4 hours reading this thread, watching all videos and pictures, astonishing and some mind blowing modifications to this Station wagon. Absolutely Insane.
