New Pictures & First Weeks of Ownership
It has now been a little over a week since I purchased my new-to-me 2002 E55. I appreciate all the response from the forum.
As I noted, I'm really enjoying this car. It is something special and I'm proud to own her.
I have a day job and a wife and children, so my free time to tinker and play with cars is somewhat less than it use to be, however I did spend some time cleaning, checking and beginning the change of all the fluids I can do myself.
1. It has some cheap Chinese oil filter... That had to go. In went the correct German filter with 0W40 Mobil One. New Mann air filters, Mann cabin filters and a new fuel filter.
2. Washed, waxed and cleaned.
3. I noticed that a lot of the paper stickers in the engine bay were flacking off. Probably due to heat. Were these engines hand-built like all the newer AMG engines? I know the new ones have the signed plaque, but I couldn't find one on mine.
4. Next up is transmission, differential, cooling system and brakes.

I did find some rust.
Mainly, the license plate area and one section on the left front fender, down by the bottom.
Spring perch looks excellent.
I'll probably get the rust areas down to bare metal, seal, primer and touch up.

I definitely like the rear of the W210 vs the W211 as I feel like MB is trying to simplified the tail lights when they were designing the W211 to be like the C class. Now MB went back to the longer tail light in the W212 which I like a lot. It gives a bigger look for the bigger E class IMO.
