Received Racing brake rotors today!! p.s I will not go to the dealer ever....

My car now has 152,000 km (94k mi) and looking at the rotors it appears that they are the factory ones!!!
I bought the car one year ago, and I think the previous owner resurfaced the hell out of the rotors.
Time for a change, I always believed in " keep the car stock no matter what"
I went to the dealer asked for a quote ( two front rotors and two shocks)
Yeah.... $1078 CAD + tax for the front rotors, no pads no sensors, nothing.
I searched at different websites and found good deals at $430 US for both.
But after reading a few threads regarding RB rotors I decided I'd give it a try. Got a pair @ $680 (two-piece Rotors)
I'm very impressed with the quality, I'm amazed!!!

I asked RB regarding the brake pads, they don't sell compatible pads with our cars but they said that any pad will work as long as it's semi-metallic.
Waiting for the pads to arrive, I'll give my mechanic a call and report back with updates.

*********UPDATE*******UPDATE**********UPDATE****** *UPDATE***********UPDATE********UPDATE************ **UPDATE
It's finally done!!!
The old rotors were in a very very very ****** up shape grooved, rusted, scorched, wrapped, and slightly cracked.
Installed the rotors, pads(Meyle semi-metallic.),sway bar links and Bilstein HD shocks.
Took the car for a drive-city and highway ~200km-, my first impressions on the brakes comes down to this:

1- Noise:
There was a metallic noise at first while driving, but now it's quiet, very quiet. However, when you brake hard there will be noise, but barely noticeable.

2- Brake feel:
I can't honestly compare it to the factory setup because it wasn't in top shape. But I'd say the feel is GREAT! It's the best feedback I got from any car, and I drove a lot of cars.
The braking power comes early almost as soon as you touch the brakes, and the response is immediate.
There's no spongy feel, just a pure metal-on-metal mechanical feel.

3- Brake dust:
I know it's a little bit early to write a feedback regarding the dust, but here goes. The open-slot design of the rotors directs most of the dust out. I took the wheels off today and it had very little amount of dust inside the wheels.

4- And now the most important point POWERRRRR!:
I would love to get a G-force meter to measure the brutal force these brakes put. Simply put, Braking @ 50% = 100% using old brakes.
A bloke decided to change lanes at the last second while I was autobhaning, I 1/3 braked and the speedo went down to 80km very fast I couldn't believe my eyes.
The force I felt while fully braking is just barely below painful. It reminded me of Clarkson when he drove/braked the SLR.

5-Break-in/ bedding:
Because these rotors are made of high carbon alloyed iron, I think I'll have to drive more to get the most of it.

To conclude,
I truly believe these rotors are the perfect replacement for our cars. It might be a little more expensive than OEMs, but they WILL last longer, a lot longer.
The car is still very civilised and suitable for Everyday-drive more than ever, it doesn't feel like a racing car but it will stop you in a similar manner if you decide to.
Inside the city, during rush-hour the brakes feel amazing.

I hope this thread helps you guys!!!

I would like to thank my friend ML63 AMG helped me make up my mind, and provided an awesome review about RB rotors.
Also
My thanks reach RB team, It was a very smooth purchase, great support regarding my enquiries.

Cheers everyone.

That's awesome. I do believe those are quite a bit lighter than stock too. Report back with initial thoughts on how they feel.

Racing brake rotors are by far the best rotors out there for Mercedes hands down.

Make sure you weight the old stock one when you take them off and compare using a digital scale with the new ones to see exactly how much weight you lost (x.xx lbs)

Also, do not use ceramic pads at all. I used StopTech brake pads with my RacingBrake rotors for the front, and stock AMG brake pads for the rear and the braking performance was massively improved.

Also, while you are doing the brake rotor,s be sure to doa. Full brake flush a nd get all the old fluid out of the system. I recommend Motul600 or Castrol SRF for maximum performance and much better brake felt than standard DOT4 fluid

W210 E55 rotors are not cheap. I paid $700 3 years ago with pad and labor with OEM.

C43/CLK55/E55 rotors & pads are damn expensive..,,

there are alternative rotors can go with, they are great but more weight than stock rotors..!

Rotors look nice!!! Never go to the dealer for parts. For some stupid reason they give shop-owners "just-OK" prices but screw their own customers on price.

I sure hope you didn't pay that for the shocks.

I can't say for sure, until I take the old ones out. However, the rotors feel very very solid.

I wonder why semi-metallic pads are better? Are the ceramics rough or is the rotor too strong?
How's the dust btw?

I wonder why? W211 e55 rotors are almost half the price.

For now I'll see how these rotors perform , good thing about RB rotors is you can replace the rotor without the center hat, which will be cheaper on the long run.

Up here We get ****** by the dealers and if you order online you have to pay hefty customs and taxes. As for the shocks,
I ordered a pair of Brillstein HD shocks, $240.

Busy week this one, with thanksgiving this weekend my mechanic will replace the rotors on Wednesday, along with the shocks, lower balljoints and sway bar links. Can't wait to feel the difference.
I'll give a feedback ASAP.
Do I need to do an alignment after the ball joints? I think it alters the caster, am I right?

Solo, ceramic pads are literally not compatible with the very special hard steel Alloy racing brake uses. It's ill cause vibrations and pads deposits to form on rotor surface. For that reason you have to run a semi metallic pad with no ceramic in the pad compound because you need a more aggressive abrasive pad to bite into the super hard iron alloy.

Stainless braided lines are also worth the money. They improve the pedal feel quite a bit. I think I paid around $100 for a full set from Goodridge back when I had my E55.

Does it affect anything other than the feel? are they a direct-fit?
Cheers.

SS brake is brilliant to go with, its great for heat resist/more stronger/oil flows better & smoother than rubber's, and it's direct fit..

"Solo wing", Thank you indeed for your honest review, since quite a few MB owners are wondering the exact same thing when their brakes are due for replacement, OE/dealer or aftermarket, and if aftermarket where they should go for etc.

Your review is so typical and can be a very good reference for other MB members so it deserves a big

We know there are many aftermarket brake choice available, and we are thankful to those MB owners who put their trust on RB brakes.

Thank you again.
