What did you do to your E55 today?
What do you mean by losing the Speedo dash display? The digital part? I use it all of the time. What about the other functions in that window? Why do you lose this functionality?
And also the Audio display will show nothing --.
A few years ago, I did my spark plugs and wires. P/N 7442s are the ones I went with and the wires are P/N 09850. They are both made by Bosch. I also bought the tool for taking the plugs out. You can get that from eBay.
Here's my write up some years ago...

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I plan to go back out there this weekend if time permits.
@Midwest the ashtray was not in good condition. When I go back I'll see if it is still there.
@benzokirk It looked like it had those KW 'coilovers' I would have grabbed it but one was missing.
My new to me 2001 E55 AMG in pristine condition, 50k miles.
Just removed rear window tint. Love the blue windows.
Going to replace both front outer tie rods this week. Using Lemfoerder oem parts. I will check inner tie rods when I'm in there but don't expect to replace them. I will post pictures.
Here is a pic of midway after removing the seats, trim and headrests. The headrests were the most tricky with pulling the lever and pushing back to free the headrest for me. I actually goofed and the mechanism came apart while pressing the lever to free the headrest. This delayed me by 40 min at least since my hands cant maneuver in a small spots to repair, otherwise ...
Here is the deck pieces out. Look at the purp!!
Used this product first. It was from a company out of Louisiana who produced upholstery dye. On the phone they told me that this would be more than enough however the co2 nozzle broke/clogged and I ran out early. This delayed me for nearly 2 weeks. So I was crusin' with a dismantled back seat.
After 1 application
I had to locate another company and find a match. That company seems to only communicate through messenger by horse because they did not respond to multiple emails. Finally after a couple of calls they got back in touch. I paid and received this kit.
After multiple applications, I was ended up with this. The purple hue was stubborn and required application/dry/application/dry. Also the spray trigger broke on this product and caused severe trigger finger blisters.
I am happy with the results and it brought it back to new looking condition! No purple spectrum in the day looking at the rearview.
Notes:
My back deck fabric was sun damaged, frail and no longer plush. The dyes will stiffen the fabric and will not retain plushness.
BE CAREFUL when removing the third brake lamp. It is old and the trim is brittle! Mine of course chipped and I scrambled to find a replacement LED. I was lucky and found a new one in tan for $20 on fleebay. I taped off and reprayed black with plastic paint. Looks new!
Spray the deck down with water to dampen the deck fibers. The dye is water based and will bond to the fiber better i feel. You still will have apply/dry (with fan) to get the purple to dye out!
The rear has these plastic oval shaped discs that support the smaller rear piece. Again frail and 1 broke. The sound pading sticks to these discs so I also had to use headliner spray to reattach the pad to the smaller sunshade piece from underneath.
Also a good time to lube and maintain the sunshade. In the winters, mine does not stick as much but you may need to open the roller compartment to re lubricate
The only pieces that are not reusable are the plastic rivets in the front corners of the larger deck piece. These are MB only parts or (plan ahead online) and costed me $7.16- yeah. Its worth maybe .25 each.

If you replace the boot the oem clamp is tricky to clamp back, heads up.
