2nd cat/ resonator delete-- pricing?

What should this cost me? I'm going to add an pipe in place of secondary cat.

I was just quoted at $600usd for stainless steel, $400 for "aluminized steel".

This is all mandrel bend, 2.5 inch piping.

I was charged $416 to cut out the resonator and replace it with an x-pipe and to cut out the secondary cats and to replace them with 200 cell cats. I supplied all of the parts.

If they are supplying the parts I don't think their quote is terrible.

I paid $290 for labor/parts. Problem was finding someone willing to remove the cats...

Hey so I think I'm going to pull the trigger here. Found someone that's quoting me $210.

Just to be clear.. All I'm having them do is replace the secondary cat with an x-pipe and delete the resonator and weld two parallel pipes in it's place? We can keep the factory piping between these two items?

Yes replace secondary cats with the x-pipe. Make sure you use mandrel bent pipes to replace the resonator. you need two. 45 degrees. As for the piping in between i kept the stock ones.

Thanks for the input, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Where would I be without mbworld....

probably much poorer with a worse running car.

Before you drive off, make sure they double check it for exhaust leaks wer they welded. Also keep in mind that the car will be pretty quiet, almost stock like for the first few hours. After a day or two it should start to sound much better.

Good advice. Why is it that it takes time to "settle"? I would think it would be pretty immediate!

Because the car adapts to variables over time. So by installing a crossover, and removing the cats you'll improve repelling exhaust gases.
The ECU, TCU.... adapts to these changes. Although I did this mod more than a year ago, and till this day the car keeps sounding better more than ever.
So it takes time and some driving to fully notice the improvements.

Good luck

Like red wine....it gets better over time I had my mods done a few years back and it sounded even better now then the day I did it....I think I paid $150 back then to cut my 2nd cats and replace them with straight pipes which I bought from eBay. Also guys, remember to take your cats back from the shop as these are worth some money. I sold mine to some dude in Jersey for $150...which offset my installation The guy mention about some precious metal...

And yes...give it some gas when you go thru a tunnel

I'm looking for a shop that has a Developer Mode DAS Machine in the Chicago land area that can turn off my primary o2 sensor after I delete the primary cat when installing Kleeman headers and down pipes anyone?

Cory from Kleeman can remap your ECU for free if you buy the long tubes from them. Just send your unit to him.

Try Fluid MotorUnion in Plainfield. They're my primary Indie Shop, if they can't do it, they can steer you in the right direction, if it's available in Chicago.
