I still have my original primaries. When they go...I'll put in some metallic 200 cel racing cats.

I've got almost 200K on mine with an x-pipe and resonator delete. It still passes smog but I'm beginning to suspect my primaries are more restrictive than they used to be. Getting ready to do my plugs/wires and thinking I should do the cats at the same time.

Just curious, how do you tell if they are getting clogged? What are the symptoms?

I'd say bad fuel economy, rough idle, lack of power, increase in exhaust/engine temperature.

^^ Yep. That's it. I would also add increased exhaust smell and a more "muffled", "pillow-over-the-exhaust-tip" sound than usual.

If your car is rattling and shaking like a nervous chihuahua....don't your CEL comes on? I'll wait till the CEL light comes on before I do anything...might have bad gas In that case, drop some gumout in the tank..

I think all this talk about the primary cats going might have jinxed me, my passenger side primary cat is now rattling. I put it up on the lift today, and confirmed it with a rubber mallet. So... after scouring online for 200 cel cats, I wondered which ones to go with. Magnaflow? Seems I can't get to see what they look like on their website.

By they way, how does it work, the lower the number the less restriction, correct? So a 200 CEL is better than a 300 CEL?

Keep in mind that going too low will/can result in a CEL and you might fail emission test.
As far as I remember 300 was the lowest without triggering an error code. Someone might chime in.

Not sure if this is the one but this is the right fit as I had it in my favorites on eBay...item #170862884170 this one is 200 cell metallic. If the CEL light comes on, just get an extension for the O2 sensors. Your engine will breath better with less restrictive cats anyways. Looks like they sell a lot of them so far - 631 sold

BTW....I read this on the guy's listing....

"If you have a 2004 or newer vehicle and are worried about setting off the check engine light I would recommend searching our other auctions for the Magnaflow 99656HM. Which is the same style cat that is a little thicker that has a heavy metal substrate. If your vehicle is 2003 and older the cat in this auction will work fine." So there you go.....

I would put these on mine if my primaries go for sure.
