Transmission Woes
2002 E55 AMG
The symptom is that I lose drive. I am driving down the road and then no drive. The selector still shows "D", but the car feels like it is in neutral. The engine revs, but no go. I pull over, shut the car off for a minute, and then it starts in limp home mode. I can drive for a block or two, and then it loses drive again. Shut off for a minute, restart, and the same thing over and over again.
The high level codes are P0700 and P0715. The internal transmission codes are P2311, P2312, P2502, P220A, and P2600.
I have replaced the connector plate inside the transmission pan, the shift module on top of the transmission, and the ETC control module located under the hood.
When I replaced the ETC, it was full of transmission fluid, so I thought for sure that was the culprit, but alas it failed again today.
When I clear the codes the car operates correctly and everything feels normal, so I am not suspecting any transmission internals.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this failure?

After looking on the internet for your codes I found the posts below. My guess is that you have a failing car battery or bad battery connections. The main clue is that you have two or three totally unrelated error codes (speed sensor, ignition coil, and transmission plate) that can all point to low car voltage. I would start there.
P0715 is a speed sensor failure
