C32 Caliper Swap Problem
Hi all, I bought a set of reman. front C32 calipers for my 02 E55. I purchased rotors for a C32 (345mm or 13 9/16) and measured them both at 344.XX mm. I installed the left caliper/rotor and they went on like factory. No issues. When I did the right side the rotor went on but the caliper mounting holes were about 1/4 from sliding over so I could bolt them on. I took the rotor off and the caliper fits correctly. Rotor on it does not fit. Both rotors measure within .05” of each other and that is with lying them flat and measuring across the “center”. The calipers both have the part numbers LEFT 20.7915.02
RIGHT. 20.7915.01. The pads fit the calipers and the hardware installs correctly.
The mounting hole spacing for the calipers is the same for both.
I am stumped…...any suggestions?
PS..I am aware the this swap does not necessarily improve braking it was mostly for cosmetics.

Could the rotor have been boxed incorrectly or made wrong?
take the rotor off the good side and switch them to see what happens and you will
have your answers.

I run these for years and they will not line up. You basically sandwich them with the wheel and lug bolts.
Also brake lines may not be long enough to be secured from memory.

Thanks, I am not talking about the little screw on the disk. I am talking about when the C32 caliper goes over the C32 disk there are 2 mounting tabs on the hub to bolt the caliper to. The right side caliper mount holes do not line up with the hub mount holes. But the L and R calipers and rotors are the correct parts. Left side works Right side doesn’t.

Misread sorry. In that case I would have to agree with turbo1k. Although I bought CLK500 calipers which were the same as the 32's without the amg markup. Bolted right up. I believe the dust shield needed to be bent back a little but otherwise direct fit.
maybe snap a pic?

So….today I tried again and after moving the dust shield around…everything worked. Thanks to Tall Giraffe and the forum. I continue to believe I am an idiot.

I need to reopen this because I went to flush fluid and the front nipples face down. I had to install C32 calipers reversed to get them to fit. They do not install with nipples up. So how do I bleed them? Thanks

Confirmed.
Just changed mine this past weekend. My calipers were upside down too. Simply flip them to the opposite side so the bleeder is up. You'll need a power bleeder. I bought the 0100 Motive Euro but it's leaky. definitely make sure both connections are tight.
You can theoretically bleed them upside down but less than 2 bar of pressure will fail. I can tell you going from them upside down to right side up and flushed properly, the bite arrives faster. The dealership missed this last time and bled them, upside down. When I went in last week due to time, they refused to bleed them upside down.

Thanks but for some reason they don’t bolt to the hubs with the bleed nipples up. This is my second attempt and I am tired of it so I put the stocks back on and bought better pads.
