Question W210 E55 AMG in 2023 For Daily Driving

Hello everyone,

This is my first thread to post.

I'm super interested in buying a W210 E55 AMG for daily driving.

However, a lot of people recommended avoiding the W210 since it's very old, especially in 2023. Spare parts are very difficult to find, especially in Kuwait where I live.

Although I can get spare parts online from FCP Euro.

So what do you think of getting an almost 23 years old E55 AMG in a good condition? Is it a good investment or not?

I have a 1999 that I drive 2-3 times a week. ~278,000 kilometers on it. Drives well although I am currently running down a CANBUS (H) failure on the internal harness that causes the front door control modules to intermittently stop working until I reset them. So...you may have issues as the car ages but then again many new cars have issues. Just check out the failures on "www.reddit.com/r/Justrolledintotheshop" for an idea of the issues/idiots out there.

I have 2, one with 90K that I bought 5 years ago with 56K and the second one I bought 2 years ago with 160K and love them both. One is a beauty and the other one is a beast albeit a Frankenstein kind but love them both and drive them both when ever I get a chance

I have an 01 with 150k that I use as my daily (I work from home so I don't drive it more than a few times a week)

I have an 02 with about 115k miles. I have owned it since new. My father drove it for a while and I have it once again. Performing typical 100k mile types of maintenance but there is nothing quite like an W210 E55.

I have an 01 E55 that I drive quite regularly. Since it shares many parts with the other 1.2 million W210 E-Class sedans, many wear and tear parts are available. The obvious performance parts are not shared. Great part is that most of the repairs I have had to do I have done myself. I am not a mechanic but I have done the following myself: Oil cooler gaskets....then the entire oil cooler a few years later as a bolt would not tighten. (commonly shared parts). Oil changes, air and cabin filter. Rack and pinion steering unit (commonly shared part), engine mounts, lower front control arm and ball joint, front brakes and rotors, window regulators, and this past winter's project - replacing the driver's catalytic convertor which I removed the secondary cats and resonator installing an X pipe.... love the sound and tad extra hp's.

If I can get the Driver's AC to cool down, I won't complain. Cosmetics such as rust and drooping headliner are items I hope to resolve some day. But if not, I'd still hop in it and drive it anywhere...with my foot to the floor and a smile on my face!

I've put about 50k on mine over the last 7 years, it's driven the most frequently out of my fleet. Still love it, still fast AF, and most of the 'wear and tear' parts are all run of the mill W210 E-class. I'm guessing rust won't be a problem for you in Kuwait either. Now that I live far North, I don't drive it during the winter months (mostly because of other drivers).
