The Pro and Cons E55, according to automobile-sportive.com (translation please :)

Here are some Pro and Cons, according to a French review of the E55. My French isn't that good; so is there someone who can translate it into English?

BIEN :-)
Ligne
Finition
Comportement
Performances
Suspensions

PAS BIEN :-(
Trop d'options
Diffusion limitée
12 points seulement sur le permis...

A disclaimer on the translation-- my training is in Italian not French! (Va bene?)

PROS (literally, things done well): -)
Lines (of the car)
Finish (of the materials)
Handling or behavior (literally, "a way of life")
Performance
Suspension

CONS (not well): - (
Too many options
Diffusion limited
Only 12 points on the driving license...

Hope that helps.

thank you!

But what does 'Diffusion limited' mean? It's some kind of technical term?

In Europe for any driving violation you get a point. for example speeding I think is either 3 or 6 points and when you reach 12 points your licence gets suspended

It could mean that the displacement is limited (i.e., the top speed). I did not know that E55s were limited displacement outside North America.

Have been driving my car for 14 months and not one negative comment. When I start to have a negative thought, I always keep it in perspective and remind myself that this is a 4 door sedan and that negativity goes away

It is so easy to start thinking of this car as a sports car because of the performance but at the end of the day it is a 4 door family sedan.

So if you 'discover' something 'negative' it's almost likely a sportscar-related thing? Could you define that? Like in... ''I wish it was lighter; so I could get the turns better'' (something like that?)

I think the amount of comfort and luxury in the E55 is at a much higher level then the competition; great car.

I love coming home and seeing the car in the garage...yelling at me to "TAKE ME OUT FOR A RUN!" I drive a company Ford Windstar minivan to and from work, so sliding into the E55 is downright orgasmic...the snug fit of the dynamic seats, the soft glow of the AMG blue lighting, the smell of the leather, and the dynamic engine resonance at speed make me realize that I will not get another Mercedes unless it is an AMG or a V12 biturbo.

I still have a 2001 CLK430 and I still think it is a great coupe (especially the W208 body style), but the E55 level of quality workmanship in the engine bay and interior make a drive to the golf course so much more fun and comfortable.

It is one of the only cars that I AND my passengers, who know anything about cars, like to turn off the audio and just let the engine sing its love song to the road. The CLK430 has a nice rumble and is torquey, but the E55 takes those two characteristics to another level.

Damn...that means I agree with the French on something.

Clyde,

You are correct in your assumptions. Having owned and driven true sports cars on the track, you will see that the E55 falls short in that arena.

This car was not engineered to be a track car or a sports car but many who criticize it do so for that reason becasue it is a fast as most exotic's.

I love my E55 and do not regret my purchase since it is my family sedan
