2003 and early 2004 did not have a spare or space for one. Towing is always free when you call roadside. I had a flat several months ago and they came took the car on a flatbed and took it straight to the dealers. I guesss you could put a spare in the trunk but it would just take up to much space.

Do you have the inflatable or the can of "goo". I have the inflatable, but if you do a search Eddie Knopp had a local shop move his battery so he could fit a spare in the trunk.

Search the archives (I'm out of town and don't have access to the photos), It's fairly easy - the part number was posted along with pics. My dealer wou;dn't do it a local garage did - just relocate the battery holder. Forget the can of tirefit - should be called tiresh*t (been there done that).

I also have an 03 E55 and no spare and was considering reconfiguring the truck for the compact spare, I currently carry a full size front tire.
The dealer quoted me a price of $780.00 for compact spare. It will take about 5 weeks to arrive from Germany. I thought I'd pass this info along to others considering this change.

***Hey is that really true*** I called Teleaid one time and was asking questions about the service about and she mentioned (under her breath quickly) that they would be happy to call towing, but that we would pay for the service.
I hung up and thought "wait a second...did I just hear that"
Anyone have any experience with flats or towing assistance....you get charged??

I drive a 2002 C32 that did not come with a spare. Last week I had a flat and the dealer paid for my towing. They did it once before about 2 years ago.
I still would have preferred a spare tire over free towing.

Prior to me putting in the spare I hit a NY pothole, hence my tiresh*t comment. The dealer took care of the tow, but did say that MB charges for it. I guess it depends on the dealer and your relationship with them - they gave me a loaner when I went in the next morning. The tire wasn't stock but a snow tire.

I had a sidewall blowout on a rear tire when I had my piece of crap dunlops. Mercedes paid for the tow and I put PS2's on. Almost worth the aggravation of the tow to get rid of those tires and put some REAL tires on the car. If these tires were an option you could order from the dealer on the new car, it would be the best option you could buy. Turned into a completely different handling car. Can't say enough bad things about those dunslops and enough good things about the PS2's.
