Well N/A is official....errrr. kinda.
Automobilemag.com unveiling details about the new R Class as follows.
If we know anything about Benz, it's that they sure keep the motors consistent across the class board. I guess you optimists can hold out hopes for twin turb V-12, but for some God forsaken reason, Benz seems to be moving in this direction.
Our only hope now is that they keep compression low enough so that we can put blowers on after the fact, but an N/A car with 500hp almost assuredly would be 10:1+. Imagine how much a blower AND all new pistons would cost....holy crap?
I guess they really DON"T read this forum as they would have seen how much we love these cars power and performance. Get ready for new ads..."Hot new ECU program guaranteed to give you almost 5 hp...now only 3995$"
Bottom line...looks like I will be buying a 2005 with blower and drive it until they change the body style...then just wander the streets wondering what could have been....
Other engine options should include the 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6; new 4.5- and 5.5-liter V-8s delivering 335 and 383 hp; and a normally aspirated 6.3-liter AMG power pack that summons an awesome 496 hp. We likely will see all these gasoline engines and the V-6 and V-8 turbo-diesels.

Thanks for posting. I know I am coming in on the 11th hour on this E55 but is should be a blast.
How are the engine mods holding up? Any issues? I don't think there are any tuner/install places here in the San Francisco Bay Area so I may have to bring my car to Los Angeles.
Anyway I am glad I ordered an '05 and did not wait for the '06.

Could not be happier, though anyone who mods HAS to budget for the new EVO or any other intercooler mod. Mine has the hi flow pump and just is able to hold normal temp. Without it, it would run red hot, thus killing all the HP.
EVO's system looks sweet....think I am going with the full shooting match. Radiator etc....
Course I won't be as pumped if I have major engine trouble and have to beg for forgiveness from local dealer and hope for mercy.
For now....LOVIN IT!

You can not go wrong with Kleemann They make a great product that is as reliable as it was when the car was stock. Your car as you know is running more efficent with the K2 then it did when stock (those stock headers are so restrictive and are a joke). Did you get the Kleemann LSD since the SL65 one did not work?
Base on the info that you posted, the next gen car will not come close to touching your K2 E55. You are right, the EVO system looks great and it does not matter if you have Renntech, Kleemann, Brabus, or EVO. I love seeing engineered solutions that are designed to work as a open system

Intresting... i was hoping for Twin turbo V8! I guess when my lease is up i'l either buy another E55 and tune it, or CL600 with ECU upgrade from renntech, 625 bhp with 745ft of trq not bad! mid 11s 1/4 ...

BoBcanada - I am going to do exactly the same. Another E55 or maybe CL600 with a chip. I am hoping they come out with a CLS 65. By the way, just saw the pics on your car. Nice...but the wife is even nicer!!! Way to go!!!

Glad I got in with a 2003 E55, as it's almost like I'm the buyer is gaining nothing by spending the extra $$$. For the money, it's hard to find something that replaces the E55 in terms of HP & comfort. I guess I'll make the decision with my warranty expires in 3 years.
