Called Renntech about air intake mods and had a great talk with Bob...really nice guy. Anyway, he tells me that D i c k Mariott (owner of a certain hotel chain....can you guess) is having our local dealer install an E55 motor into.....you ready...an E500 with 4 MATIC. With Renntech mods, motor should be pushing 625 hp. Basically they have a blank check to "do what they need to do" . Told me it is really a pain, as they have to totally rework the 4 matic and hand make a lot of parts to make this happen.....but when you own Mariott Hotels, who gives a F. 625 with 4 Matic....unreal.

Maybe I can hook up with ole Mr Mariott and we can go out and get some kill stories.....okay, I will stop dreaming and go back to my mediocre life now.

Okay..... So what did Renntech say about the air intake mods????

Ahh nothing...everything backordered for months..bout 15 weeks.

They have mod'd throttle body (7 hour install as you have to take blower off) and carbon airbox mod that each add 15-20 hp....didn't ask him on pricing, but we all know Renntech is always on the pricey side.

Scratch that one of the list....

When I worked for Marriott while attending college he used to come in every other month or so. He would usually drive his SL600 V12 (first one i ever drove, awesome car), also had a 456GT Ferrari. When the Redskins were aquiring Dan Wilkinson from the Bengals he brought his S600 V12 Renntech. It was the first time I saw a performance mercedes, after that I was hooked for life.

Seems like he might be a car guy.

Why doesn't the E550 4MATIC owner just purchase an E55?

What dealer is doing the install? I have seen one of his muscle cars and it has a lot of trick mods on it. I would like to know which dealer is doing this type of work to our cars.

Did you miss the entire point of this? The E55 doesn't come in 4-MATIC. He is building a 4-MATIC E55

im sure its harder to retro fit an entire four wheel drive transmission and drivetrain, rather than shoehorn the E55 engine and modify some of the parts

The Dealer Is Ken Garff Mercedes here is Salt Lake City. I just can not say enough about how horrible they are...honestly service is okay, but sales are combo of Hitler and Osama with a touch of Simon Cowell for spice. Let's put it this way.....the owner of the Utah Jazz, Larry H Miller owns a Benz, and HE got treated like S)*T too, so he did it the right way.....opened up his OWN dealership just outside of Salt Lake in Lindon.

That's where I'll be taking the beast from now on.
