3 1/2 gold brake calipers
This being said, we think it might be best to duct underneath the front spoiler with something not very tall but very wide. This would then duct underneath and either point to the brakes or if the ducting was small enough and the intake air duct was large enough, be able to take a smaller duct directly to the back of the brakes.
Still in the R&D stage. Will keep you posted.
I now have 3 1/2 gold calipers. More info soon.
IMO on the brakes over heating... I don't think a new brake system will solve the problem; as the oem brembos with 14.2" rotors should be adaquate even for demanding track events; it will merely prolong the overheating by a few more heat cycles.
One of the cause for brakes overheating that people overlooked are the size and weight of wheels. A 19" wheels that is extremely light still have more rotational mass than a 17" (I believe some 17" wheels can clear the front brakes on the E55) wheel with average weight, as higher RM will require more power to accelerate and deaccelerate as well, wich may be the main cause of your brakes over heating. Of course
there is nothing more important than to just watch the brake temp warning light on the dash as mentioned by Color Change.
A well placed air duck on the other hand works wonders, M5 owners that track their cars have been getting great results with air ducks.

And yes, a larger than OEM wheel is not necessarily the way to go at the track....

I am glad that you're doing your racing around at the track though - Good for You.
And heck yeah you'll get better from doing it!
Gold calipers are a sign of time well spent....

It was very tight but I did manage to thread the flexible hoses into the wheel well. Don't forget, that a lot of the heat in your brakes comes from the ABS/ESP which constantly comes on as you go around the circuit, and you cannot completely switch it off!
