Sources for 18" racing wheels for lowered 211
To all,
I'm looking for:
18 X 8.5, 5-112, ET 32+/- Front
18 X 9.5, 5-112, ET 36+/- Rear
to mount some road racing tires to and go have fun. Currently I'm toasing Potenza S-03's and PS2's at an expensive rate.
Any suggestions FOR WHEELS (not tires).
Thanks

Five-spoke design is pretty plain, but great choice for a track car.
Gid, might want to email them your specs and see their response - I'm interested in the actual weights they quote.

For road racing you need 18x9 et 36-40 with 265 35/18s up front. It will dramatically reduce the understeer prob. Check out the OZ's. Nice and light.

275/35/18 rear and 245/40/18 front
Both of these will work on 8" and 9" rims but work best on 8.5 and 9.5

If you would be willing to consider a different tire, you could use a Pilot Sport Comp, Pirelli Corsa or Kuhmo V700. They all come in 265 35 18's. They are all rated lower in treadwear. That number can vary between manufacturers, so the RA-1's might be as soft, but they probably aren't softer. (I'm assuming you are just putting these on for track days so treadwear isn't important) I see you have the LSD so you should get decent traction exiting the turn. I have to believe that lack of front grip is going to be main limit to your lap times.
You might want to contact Dr. Chill and find out what he used on his car. I'm pretty sure he had some big r-compounds up front.

I just realized I saw your brake thread. You should definitely contact Chill. He had brake scoops from Mosler that might help you.

BT,
Thanks. I have lowered the car about an inch and turn in has improved dramatically (as did a big reduction in body roll). As far as the Toyo's go, I have have ordered and on thier way. Either way you look at it it's still a 4,000+ car.
Thanks again
PS New brakes and air ducts on the way

Gid....talk to John over at CC Wheels.
He basically custom makes all wheels when you order.
Not as bad as you think for custom made wheels...only draw back is that they are like model A Fords...you can have any color in the world...as long as it's black...I mean, his customs only come in one style I believe....but call him...great guy

He custom mills out of a solid forged block with a CNC machine. He can custom space the offset within certain limitations, and his stuff is surprisingly affordable (meaning you don't get screwed just because you drive a mercedes). He offers black chrome, chrome, and a bare metal rim with high polish lip.
