Some people have lost perspective about these rims. They are for the "track" and purchased to be abused and nobody regardless of the coin they have or make should waste money on HRE's rims to beat up at the track. My 2 cents.

VERY FLAWED RESPONSE!

How do rims get beat up at the track? Last time I was at the track I didn't see any curbs or potholes or any other hazards. As a matter of fact, Dr. Chill has *****en HRE's and he has tracked his car repeatedly! He's known for that.
How much damage has he sustained to his HRE's at the track?
Plain and simple... Those wheels are butt ugly! They don't belong on an E55!

VERY FLAWED RESPONSE ALSO!

You are one of the ones that has lost perspective! Thanks for stepping up and showing your ignorance.

You are assuming that the only track is a dragstrip. Have you every heard of auto cross and slalom. I guess not! Much abuse on tires and rims at those driving events. Also, you might want to put on some dedicated tires, like drag slicks or Compound R, etc. that are not street legal or even a set of winter tires. Rims are sometimes purchased for function and not just flash or looks or bragging rights. Just because you are stuck on the vanity factory shows you have little insight into why some folks need a set of cheap wheels regardless of looks.

More perspective is required on your part.

So does that mean that even though these wheels are heinous looking, they are functional enough to warrant use for specific events??? Does that mean you put them on and take them off each time you visit the track or slalom course?? If you don't then does that mean you keep them on full time and actually think they look good??? You see, what puzzles many here is whether or not you actually think they look good? You rant on and on how functional they are...that's fine! But looks count for a lot (not everything) otherwise we wouldn't bother driving such a fancy car. It's not all about performance! The problem with those wheels is that they might function well but they look like hell! And that is not just a matter of opinion.

People can agree or disagree about the "look" of a wheel on car. But fake ***** is just crap. Knock off spinner center caps on a bolt on wheel is fake. Add-on cap head bolts to fake a 2 or 3 piece wheel is just crap. You want to run your $80K+++ car at TRACK conditions with anything less than TUV (or above) spec wheels? Well that is beyond stupid. Hey, it's your $$$. Next it will be the old rolled-up sock in the pants trick.

I love the E55 but this sh*t makes me hate the fact that I have it. When you have a bunch a D*ckheads that think because they drive an $80k+ car that they are above anything that's inexpensive it sucks. I'm not a fan of the wheels but for someone that might be you don't have to sh*t on them. Get your head out of the clouds. Too many of you guys are hung up on name brands. Let guys be happy with what they have without sh*ting on them. I am assuming that if you act that way you inherited your money. Otherwise you would understand how someone could consider these wheels.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
OK, old guy checking in again...

and I do sorta have to say I'm on the fence on this stuff. If you take the name brand out of it, then I will tell you that although I haven't seen the wheels in question, several of the copies that I have seen lately are as good if not better than the real thing. They were more true, and the finish was extremely good. Weight was reasonable. And frankly, the OE AMG wheel is only good quality, not great. They don't cost what they do because of the quality or raw materials, but because they are backed by MB USA (for what that's worth these days), and thier huge liability coverage. I also have paid some stupid money for some wheels in the past and prollly will again. I'm not going to knock a guy if he wants to use the copies, but I do want him to come clean when I ask him what they are. I pulled up next to guy that had some Brabus copies on his car (mine are real). I asked him about his wheels and he said "oh yeah, they're Brabus", to which I replied "nnnoooo, they are Brabus look, but not real Brabus". You could see the sickness in his face. I would have been fine with it if he had just come clean with me. And you know what, I think the finish on his fakes was better than my real ones...

It is funny how a wheel that looks almost exactly like the real deal AMG is hideous but the original is not? That does not make the logic test.

First, TUV means nothing in the US just like DOT means nothing in Europe and second there are TUV approved fakes on the market also.

DWT,

Welcome. What I would like to know is why you post your NOS times but refuse to share pictures or any REAL information on your set up. I've posted inquires on these runs of yours on two different sites as well as emailed you.

You want to sponsor this site and sell us stuff but you won't share with us any information. What gives?

DWT,

I'm with Derek on this one for sure..I even e-mailed concerning the wheels and heard nothing...as most of us share info here I was a little suprised when several e-mails about your N20 set up went unanswered. I can understand if you don't want to share your R/D but you post your times and other assorted facts here and on other forums and then seem to disappear without posting replies.....am sure you may be busy but how about a reply...thanks, Gray
