How much to get windows tinted?

Just wondering how much it cost you guys for the following scenarios for the E55:

1) All the rear windows tinted
2) All windows tinted except for the front windshield

Anyone have advice for some good window tinting shops in San Francisco bay area?

I did a search, but haven't find any pricing info or ballpark figures yet.

Thanks in advance!

Depending on location, they vary anywhere from $99 to $500. You get what you pay for of course. Cheaper place will use crappy film which will turn purple in a year, while the high end ceramic film will have lifetime warranty and will not interfere with your AM/FM/nav/keyless-go etc.

I had mine done with SolarGard metallic film. I did not have any problems with radio reception. But I also don't have keyless-go which some claim may have problem with metallic film.

Thanks guys.

That's a good point. If people can also post up what brand of tint the shop is using along with the pricing. Much appreciated!

I've got SolarGuard 5% all around (except windshield) done for $130. I've been going to him for years now, and sent many customers to him. I guess it depends what area you're in, but i agree...make sure you get references and ask around for the best guy or shop in your area.

I got ALL my windows including the windshield done for 150...but that was because I had a good relationship with the owner. I can maybe get it down to 120? for the driver side/passenger, back...I'll can find out if interested. The place is in rosemead.

I forgot the brand they use but it is awesome. I have had mine for just about a year and a half and it's perfectly fine. I have a lifetime warranty on it too.

$130 is a GREAT deal. Going price is OC SoCal is $250-$300.

I got a quote from a local shop that uses FormulaOne Pinnacle Ceramic film for $460. I rather get sunburn than spend that much on window tinting.

I've received several estimates for window tinting in the SF Bay area. Pricing for 5 windows (sides and back) has ranged from $220 to $300 for Madico tint product. The most impressive place I have found so far is Professional Film Installations in Oakland. The owners name is Jim and his number is (510) 839-2430. He quoted me $260. He does a lot of work for the Weber BMW and mercedes dealship. Let us know where you end up and what you think of the work.

depending on what film they use about 275-300 in socal....prices have gone up a little because of film material.......i've seen cheap places but i look at it this way, i drive a benz not a honda and a friend of mine once did the cheapo style tint on his c-class, paid $110 but almost a year down the line it turned purple and when the shop went to take it off it also took off the rear defosters and it wasn't cheap to fix it........

I went with houseoftints dot com. They didn't have the fancy ceramic film, just Solargard dyed and metallic film. I had them put in 15% metallic film and my GPS is still seeing 11 satellites, and all AM/FM still works just fine. The GPS antenna is exterior anyway so I don't know why people complain anyway. Pretty good job and honost deal.

But if you got cash to burn, get Formulaone Pinnacle ceramic films. Go to formulaone dot com to find a shop near you.

If your in the Tri-State area theartoftint dot cm is the best place to get your mb tinted. They automatically replace the window strips with the felt to prevent scratching and streaking and do everything 1 piece and right up the to very edge of the window. They tinted 2 of my cars this year and both were perfect. The e500 I had them do 35% llumar which I think was like 275 and on my CLS500 I had them do 40% HuperOptik ceramic tint for like 450. The CLS was an impressive tint job, especially the back window with that thick ceramic tint fitted over the brakelight. A few other here have gotten there car tinted there, chime in.

anything over $250 is stretching it. I was quoted the other day $200 [haggled down from $220] for 5 windows 50% using 3M film.

I'd rather pay the guy full price AND buy him a nice Micky-D combo....in exchange for extra attention and detail on the tint job on your car. After all, film is expensive but LABOR is the most important thing, which makes the difference. Some guys tint your windows out door in the parking lot and finish it within 2 hrs...someone would tint your windows inside a air-conditioned room and spend 5 hrs on it.

This all that the heavy hitters in the desert use for their MBs. You know it's good when the dealer has 12 new cars on the showroom floor with H-O already installed.

I don't want to make this a big argument, but the dealer using a company doesn't make the company good, nor professional. It just means they happened to build a relationship and it worked out. Often times it's just the cash. I walked up to a MB dealer and this dirty guy in a bumbed out old tiny van was the guy doing the cleaning. Maybe i shouldn't judge his work by his ride and condition, but i'd still expect a cleaner car from a guy who cleans cars for a living...and for mb.
