Remember All 4 wheels stolen ?

Well after 2 months I GOT THE CAR BACK WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. Ok this is a great story, boy did I miss my E55. On Feb 14 all 4 wheels were stolen off my vehicle, the thieves used jacks which penetrated the side mouldings. The car was then dropped on the rotors by the tow truck driver, and the front bumber pulled off . The rear bumper also was scratched and eventually damaged by the dragging on the curb. I replaced my 18" amg rims and tires with 19" double spoke amg rims. I replaced the contis with pilot sport 2. The car was painted and taken to mercedes via flatbed for diagnostics, uh guess what? Somehow when the car was taken off the tow vehicle once again the bumper hooked onto something and apparantly came of , egads. So ...A second bumper was ordered , painted and TODAY i got the car. IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER...I think I feel more bumps, I also got new rotors calipers and brakes. The pilot sports seem to have better traction and I am feeling the road more. It was torture driving another vehicle, I joined this group to tell of my saga 2 months ago. You folks have made me appreciate my car so much more, when I got home I wiped the rims clean as the exhaust was still steaming...I will post pics soon. Thanks for listening and thanks for the wealth of info posted here.

Yeah great vehicle , I really beat her up, sometimes its laggy as the turbo needs a bit to kick in. heheheh. She really handles some serious road conditions, pot holes ,dirt roads ,snow etc.Great choice to supplant SUVs..

I agree. The color combo and rims look amazing. However, as far as wheel locks...how does the saying go? Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice...

Saw the same color at the dealer and it looks great. Wheel locks...and do you still park the car at the same spot? I hope not...

Do wheel locks work?

The LAPD officer said it takes an extra 30 seconds with the wheel locks, If this is incorrect please advise as to a wheel lock that will prevent rim theft? Unfortunately the car was parked infront of my house. I am working on the driveway and garage so soon I will be able to get her off the street. I will get the wheel locks if they will deter but I was under the impression if they want the rims they can get em regardless of the locking mechanism.

Thanks,

Thanks,
The only thing that will prevent theft is if you use glue on the bolts. But you'll never change your wheels again.

Wheel locks are a DETERRENT. Nothing more. The thief will think to himself, "how much longer will this take with those and will I get caught before that?". Hopefully he looks at another car down the street and says "that one looks easier". That's all they'll do. Only thing I could think of is maybe put two different wheel locks on each wheel to make it a serious pain in the a$$ for the thief. He looks and says, ok this will just be annoying and moves on.

Totally Agree!!

I put actually three different Wheel locks on each rims on my C32 before...I know it is little more trouble when u need to take the wheel off...but how often? And usually someone else will do it for u anyway...so pls put some on before someone try to do the same again...espically this set cost 2 / 3 times more the price...

Ok , Thanks for all the advice, Ill make it more difficult. I think parking behind my gate and up my driveway may work the best. so some different wheel locks on each rim eh? Wonder why they did not steal the car jeez, those stock rims were to say the least
scrotched" the tires had 13k miles on em, I wonder what they were thinking. Glad I didnt wake up cause Id prolly be writing from LA COUNTY.....

get 5 different wheel locks for every wheel. That is the best deterrent.

just curious, but is each set of wheel locks from MB unique (different key), or are there different aftermarket mfg's which sell ones with different keys? about to invest in new rims, so its worth asking...

Indeed, they really are no more than a deterrent. Getting different sets of wheel locks will not make the slightest bit of difference because of the way they get them off. Basically, they just hammer a socket onto the wheel lock untill its got enough bite to be able to turn the lug. Buying different locks is complete waste of money.

Wow your car looks great considering all that happend. Please do yourself and your E a favor and park it in the garage or at least the driveway.

My E has never spend a night under the stars yet. She is always in my garage at night.

Best Wishes,
MBH
