Done! Retrofit from V60 to V710
I did it. With a little help from Paul ****, I retro fitted my 2003 E55 to a new Mercedes Benz V710 from the old V60 using the cradle (known as the "hang up cup") from Motorola ($40-$50 depending where you buy it). I modified the hang up cup to accomodate the cable and guts (PC board and male interface tab) from my old V60 cradle. THAT WAS ALL I NEEDED. While I admit, it's not an MHI or UHI system, big deal! The Mercedes V710 is all the phone that I'll need for the next 2 years that I have the E55. By then DC should have their act together and refine bluetooth connectivity. I got the V710 brand new on e-bay for $300. It syncs with my car, downloads the phone book, dialed, received calls, keypad dialing and even my voice recognition module works too! I could not believe it. Saved a bundle over trying to retro fit an MHI kit.
I'll post pics soon if you guys want... just let me know.

I think it's very likely... I will re-connect my old cradle in my dad's 2002 C320 with command Navigation. I have the entire V60 kit in that car too (used to be my car before the old man graciously took over the last year's lease so that I could get my E55). If it works on that car with the old Cd rom based navigation, I would bet it's a sure thing for the W210 E class. I'll know soon enough...

On my 2005 all I did was swap the craddle out. Snaps in and out. I bought the v710 merc phone on ebay. Everything works great on the phone. Had to buy the new craddle at the stealership ,part number Q6820920. I have the old v60 craddle if anyone is interested.

W210:
It won't be nearly as easy for you as it was for Rflow. He has a 2005! The V60 cradle he mentioned he swapped out was probably a MHI cradle which is modular. The false floor of his center console already had a computer type interface that allows to simply swap out any MHI cradle and snap in a new one that matches your phone (in the US there are only 3, the V60, V600 or V710). There is a lot of work needed to be done to try to install an MHI cradle system in a 2004 and 2003 E Class. What I did was completely different. My cradle is actually hard wired into my car You can see the coil cable coming out of the back of my motorola cradle (unlike an MHI cradle which has no wires)
PM me your info (phone number and city in SO Cal) and maybe we can get together so that I can show you what I did.
