A M5 that looks better than the E55
For some reason the upcoming M5 touring seems to wear the Bangle design very well. I think the lines and proportions work nicely.
I have always loved sport wagons, including the RS4, E55 touring and now.......................OMG, the M5 wagon. WOW!!! what a cool car to haul the family around.

I see a few stock "new-5" wagons around here time to time, and they are pretty attractive, especially compared to their sedan counterparts. But the new design has a stubbiness to it, probably due the car's high-shouldered doorsills, which makes it seem short (lengthwise), narrow and tall; on the other hand, the E55 wagon's lines and doorsills, etc. have its lines flowing in a manner that makes it seem longer and lower to the ground. and having sat in both, my impression is that the bmw is a little more bucket-like due to its higher-rising door panels.
it really boils down to personal taste; i'm sure both are wonderful. i'm positive that my e55T is... :v

I like the BMW's looks more than most, and can actually appreciate the profile a lot.. but the W211 is IMHO one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

Im sorry but a W211 Wagon is the most beautiful wagon to have ever graced any road in the world. They are sporty, yet elegant. Can't say the same about the new 5er Wagon

The E55 wagon is better looking, more luxurious than the M5 and according to a recent "short takes" by car and driver is faster 0-60 than the E55 sedan. The only station wagon I would own!

notwithstanding that i'm firmly ensconced in the e55 fan camp on this thread, it bears mention that the bmw 5er wagons actually look a lot better in person than in pictures. i've seen black ones and silver ones (in L.A., do any other colors exist?) and a clean black one is a pretty "wowing" sight. until everybody has one, that is...

Anyway, I have always thought both M5 sedan and wagon are far better looking than E55. And since taking delivery of the M5, I am more than convinced that Chris Bangle is right and BMW traditionalist is wrong.

You are asking a MB forum lol. I like the M5 personally more too. But vs the CLS55 the CLS kills it in looks.

You are convinced in something that cannot be judged using quantative and empirical values. It's not so much that egos are tied to cars, but that the category being compared is not objective, but subjective.
The BMW looks like it is, and the Mercedes looks as it is, however our perception of these cars is very different. You aren't the only one who thinks that the Chris Bangle styling designs are better than the previous designs, but I can find a whole camp of folks that will readily disagree with you. The problem is, you can't find a 'right' or 'wrong' because there is none. It's just an opinion
