03-05 E55 Question
Since most if not all 03-05 55's came with Conti Sport 2's I 'd like to know if everyone was dissatisfied with these tires, as it seems from reading older posts, lots of 211/55ers here hated the tire. I'm asking this because I'm upgrading the wheels on my 500 and a set of new amg wheels and tires are availble as a direct take off from an 05 500 but they have Conti 2's. I have Michelins now and LOVE them but I'd really like some objective feedback. My greatest concerns are for noise vibrations and or steering wheel shimmies.
Thanks!

Yikes not good news at all. Did you guys just feel the performance was way off vs PS2's or was there vibration, steering wheel shimmies, noise or any flat spotting issues?

The compound of the CS2 are just really hard...more like a touring tire than a max performance tire. After changing to PS2s, everything was improved all around. Braking, ride, noise...
If you can, go for PS2s.

I would buy them and use them up. Many of the folks here really push their 469 hp + cars and these tires may be weak for that type of driving. The contis are not ideal for the E55. In an E500 with normal to aggressive driving they should be fine.
I actually use an old set of Conti sc2 on my track wheels on my Porsche. Sure, they are not ideal, but they are fine until they are worn.

2004 E55 Black Navi Kleemann Stage 1 & LSD, Brabus Mono VI, pedals and lighted sills, JL sub.
I also rid myself of the contis after 12k miles. The road noise was so bad I thought my rotors were shot. PS2's are silent compared and stick. Bad news is that they are over 25% worn since January.
