question about 03-04 and 05-06 center console/arm rest
are they interchangable? personally I dont like the sliding center console/arm rest and want the 03-04 center console/arm rest, can i put a 03-04 center console/armrest into the 05?

Does anyone know if this is possible? are they interchangable? has anyone done this before?

Weren't their a few people here who tried to take the older console and put it into the 2005 at the dealer? If I am correct they failed to get the Tele-Aid or something to work correctly. Can't remember to well though. If you could get it to work, then this would be pretty damn interesting.

I've recently purchased a CPO 2005 E55 from a MB dealer. With all the great info found here, I came to realize that I have the 03/04 flip up arm rest. I decided to check the manufacturer's sticker on the door, and it shows that mine was built on 6/2004. Is there something wrong here?

Nothing wrong. the switch with this and a few others was a phased plan and basically included cars built in '04.

Yes the change is possible you just need to source the parts from overseas since they never did the cup console over there. The later years have some differences with inside wires etc.

The newer W211 console sucks, it's uncomfortable especially on longer drives. Your elbow gets bruised sitting on that hard wood all the time.

I think I've spoken with SteveNL about this in the past. It's a lot of work and a lot of parts -- a lot of $$$$$. Just stick with what you have.

I can verify that it is many $$, so i backed off, but the new ones SUCK!
