**update** The Baddest Wheels Known To Man...
talked to curt at the wheel shop and they actually build race cars and happened into this wheel process by accident somewhat. by a propriatory process they were able to make these wheels 1/4 inch thick. racing motorcycle wheels made by dymax werent even an 1/8 and for the slight weight savings were having problems thats why bikes (only some though) dont used dymax wheels anymore. av doesnt make bike wheels so thats why you arent seeing them. f1 doesnt allow cf wheels, thats why you dont see them. they are dot approved for 5,000l per wheel and in testing of 5,000,000 cycles 100% of there wheels were fine where 100% of a control group, vette wheels failed. to fix road rash is $160. if the wheels break that means your car was totaled. get decalred value of your car through your insurance company and theyll be covered. a cracked hoop or barrell is 1k.
the best part... they just made a set for an english company who is making an e55 (all carbon car, already made an m3 all cf car) for the next sema show. it has a silver barrell (hey, i said that!!!) and reproduced factory spokes (i said that too) that are painted gunmetal sl65 color (he was reading my freaking mind!!!!!) looking into getting pics of the wheels. they are also making cf wheels for 8 murchielago (butchered sp) race cars sema too. price for the sl65 lookalikes are 1675 a piece. 6700...
did anyone happen to see the blurb i did a month or so back of the sts100 with the carbon/magnesium wheel??? av built em. the aforementioned sl type wheel weighs 9.5lb. the hollow spoke version weighs 5.5lb and cost 15k...ouch. sort of like buying the last 15 hp your car can generate. renntech ordered a set too.
also, while not advertised the make cf rotors, undergoing dot testing. titanium rotors which dissipate heat much faster and are much lighter. drumroll......................1100 for the set. doenst seem bad at all actually and cf driveshafts with integrated magnesiun yokes, not epokyed for 1500. again, could be worse.
so they dynoed a new cobra b4 and after cf wheels, ds, and rotors. no hp gain net but peak hp arrived much sooner on the dyno. 1/4 mile dropped 1/2 sec and 0-100-0 a full second. waiting on the dyno to post.
in conclusion, sorry for the mispellings, ramblings etc. you dont get caps so plz dont expect and better. as soon as i get the pics and they look like i think they should my hre's are available for sale as are the stock 55's that have been black powdercoated with stock contis with 2k miles. i know, that plan didnt work out too well and if no takers theyll look good on my garage wall. pm if interested, slight rash on one wheel 3/4 long. pm me price your looking at. you know how much they are new. tires are pp with 1/2 tread left rear
and 4/5 left on front. 19x9 and 19x10.

I'm still really iffy on the whole CF thing. I still think it would shatter. While it might withstand high pressures, I don't believe it would simply bend the way typical alloy wheels would.
