Wood steering wheel and shifter

Do anyone know where i can find the wood and leather wheel for the e55?? Is there an upgraded shifter knob available also. For such a great car the factory seems to have been asleep on these two items....

MBWerks in San Diego sells them (see http://mbwerks.com).

My SL500 had the wood steering wheel and while I loved the look, I hated the feel (slippery)... I can understand the shifter, however I love the feel of the AMG's leather wrapped steering wheel on both my E55 and SL55.

Good luck!

You are not supposed to hold the steering by the wood (too high) but by the moulded grip at "1/4 to 3" LOL....
I just love the warm smoothness of the wood when I touch it occasionally. The rest of the time , it's "white knuckles" on the grips...

Hold it at the grips? Hmmm... so what do you do when you're steering w/ your feet (rolls eyes)?

Generally speaking I don't, but trust me your hands will find occassion to grab it during normal driving and it can be slippery...

Either wear some gloves, wash your greasy hands, or lay off the hand lotion!

Seriously, I've never experienced a trace of slipperiness with the MP Designs wheel, and I normally hold it at the correct 10 & 2 position, at the thickest portion of the wood grips.

Perhaps not the MP Designs wheel, but the MB wood steering wheel is laminated wood - so unless your applying a vice like grip to it I don't see how you can say it can't get slippery. Perhaps yours are more sticky, but I kept mine clean... and I wonder why you guys even use a steering "wheel" since you're always at "the correct" driving positions. Perhaps a wooden handlebar would make more sense? LOL.
