Sorry guys, but while I can easily afford an e500, I cannot as comfortably afford an e55, yet I love the quad exhaust looks so bad I had to order and install it on my not-so-wimpy e500 for about $5000 (including front and rear exhaust). The question, would you be offended if I attach the AMG logo that the sales guy threw in? Keep in mind I'm not changing the e500 for e55 logo, just attaching the AMG. Dump it to me like you feel, no hard feelings!!!

It's your car. Some people might have something against it, and some won't.

I personally don't think I would badge a non-AMG car if it's not a genuine AMG.

Offended? No. Not at all. I'd be embarrassed... but not for myself... I'd be embarrassed for you... That said, if you bought the Carlsson or Brabus exhaust I wouldn't think it that tacky to add their logos... but IMHO, the AMG tag should only be attached to a AMG vehicle.

I tend to agree with the above two posts, but atleast you got the real exhaust. Guy near my work has the screw-on quad tips, it is not good....

damn, you bought a new e500 (new?) and 5k for an exhaust thatll add maybe 15hp? why not buy a used e55???

Only reason I considered the AMG badge is to denote that car has an AMG package, and not to fool people that it's E55, thus the reason I'm not replacing the e500 for e55. But I got the message, I also agree with the feeling of embarrassment. It would look too e55-wanna-be.

And no even if I could get a used e55 for less than 76k, I would rather drive a brand new e500 than used e55. Gotta smell that leather. Besides, I tend to admire the things I don't own more than the ones I own. So let me continue to drool on the beast for now.

I totally get where are coming from. NOTHING like the smell of new Benz.....

However I did buy my beast used and pampered...... and everytime I get in er, the Nappa still let's me know it loves me. Smells awesome!

I had an E500 before the beast.....SO GLAD I UPGRADED...even to a used beast. Just nothing like it in the world.

I say before you get into into adding this and that to make it feel or look like a 55....test drive one....you'll trade up shortly after.

All the best with the new E however you swing it.

You can buy a used E55 with miles in the teens for less than $70k. Ask me how I know And the Certified warranty is better than new.

And, Yes, it still smells and looks brand new.

That is what I did, and would do if I were you.

Bought my E55 used with 4600 miles. Still smelled new. Personally, I'd leave the badge off of the car. You already have the exhaust. Like the other guys said, I'd leave teh AMG badge to the factory AMG cars. Still, its your car. Do what you like w/ it.

Purchased my E55 2 years old.
The new car smell fades to a memory, but the smell of smoking the rears with 700Nm just keeps coming back.

Forget the AMG badges, the E500 is a nice car, leave it as.
Enjoy the exhaust noise with the new system.

I agree with OzE55. Let the car be and the new exhaust should be nice. Also, when you slap the AMG badge on there your inviting people to race you and you may not feel as good when you can't deliver. You'll be wishing you bought the used E55.

How about taking the E500 to Kleemann and letting them put a supercharger, wheels, and brakes on your car and slapping a Kleemann badge on it then? Now, that would be sweet. Full renovation for $15-$20k.

For all the good it's going to do, why don't you just buy the quad tips and screw them to the bottom of the bumper and get the same look.
