Resonators...
I've deleted my resonators today!
I was wondering if there's anything i should do like xpipe or such. I've read that hilsman deleted his resonators and secondary cats but replaced xpipes where his resonators where.. All I did was put straight pipes through where my resonator was. Since I didn't do the secondary cats is it ok that I have straight pipes or should I use xpipes or should I just get rid of the secondary cats and then replace the straight pipes with the xpipes where it is now.. I'm kinda lost now.. Any one that is experienced in this area give some feedback please.. Thanks!

Just wondering, when you removed the resonators, did you have to cut and weld or were they on sections that you could simply remove and replace that section with a straight pipe?
Yeah...remove secondary CATs and put X-pipe, but make sure you leave your O2 (Lambda sensor) so computer wont detect a mistake, you car should sound much better and you should get 10-15 HP's...Engine will REV easier...

Peter, there's really no use of just doing the resonators? so I should just do the secondary cats too? Are the secondary cats the ones right before the resonators? Since I replaced 2 straight pipes where the resonators were, all I have to do now is just remove the second cats too right and straight pipes the cats too? I had totally forgotten how it looked down there.. I wish I would of brought my camera along.
Don't you guys have smog laws?
I killed the resinator and placed in straight 2.75" pipes. Nicer sounder. Maybe better response. More of a thud thud (that i like). Cutting out cats is illegal in Cally, so i can't do that. Anyone know what HP/Torque gains there may be in a resinator drop?

2 SL with every Brabus mods available & Class A competition sound system
removed resinator and cat just make your car sound louder........which make you think your car is faster now..........HP and Torque gains none.......even if it did gain HP and Torque....10 at the most........you need at least 20 Hp or 15 foot pound of Torque to make your car .1 second faster..........just leave it alone your car is fast already all you E55 driver.......

HP gains was truely not my intentions.. I was more or less after the sound
I think it would definately sound better with the secondary cats off and new headers..

It has been tested by many tuning shops that on a same cars X-pipe vs H-pipe, X-pipe gives better HP advantage and better outflow, + it sounds better...
I've seen even one test where there was an article on exhausts X vs H pipe and better results where shgown 1/4 times with X-pipe....
I have X-pipe on mine, no CATs and sport mufflers, did not dynoed but it definately awakned the engine and pulls much better at higher REVs, kills all stock M5's...
A freind of mine just removed CATs on his M5, considering that he has stock 400HP and on Dyno it showed 420
...
To get the best reuslt out of any mods, you need to tune ECU for IT..

Correct me if I'm wrong but right before the secondary cats, there's the H pipe.. I can't really remember since I looked down there very briefly.. I guess should really just delete the secondary cats and replace the H with the X pipe so you say M5RUS?
I am not sure HOW the exhausts of E55 looks exactly...but it sound right...
I guess after secondary CATS exhaust goes to H pipe to middle resonators right???
If Right then, cut the CATs out leave O2 sensors or move them...then X pipe goes where the middle mufflers where and it crosses X, then to the mufflers...
If H pipe goes before secodary CATS, same story, remove CATs, from Pre-Cats to middle and to rear mufflers...
Tell us how it goes...Good luck...
