Improving: 1/4 mile now 12.66 vs. 13.04
Thanks to DerekFSU, Jakpro1, dgussin1, and other members who have posted information with regard to 1/4 mile techniques.
Last time, my best was 13.036 @ 112.9 mph and my 60' time was 2.32 (ugly).
This time, my best was 12.66 @ 109.8 with a 60' time of 1.87.
Being a novice, I find that I'm having difficulting concentrating on both my reaction time and not spinning my wheels (the 60' foot time). I seemed to have a good reaction time and not so good 60' time, and visa versa.
I'll keep trying. Had a great time. Learned alot, thanks for the comments and advice from my prior time slip.

what track were you at?
did you change to drag radials?
I went to famoso...missing third gear, I went 11.34 @ 123...on that run I went 93 in the 1/8th because of the missed shift...earlier on an 1/8th mile pass I went 101 in the 1/8th. I think I would have seen 131 if it was a successful run. I was so pissed

No drag radials; PS2's.
Is famoso the same as Bakersfield?
I'm thinking of trying Irwindale (1/8 mile track). It's pretty close to my house and work, and I can practice launching just as well on a 1/8 mile track.

that is my best run...I have only made 2 complete passes in the 1/4 with my race tune...one I missed 3rd and the other I missed 4th. I will get a 10 for sure once I get my clutch problem figured out. I am still on the stock clutch with 14K miles...it doesnt like getting warm, when it does I cant powershift...I will replace it and go 10's easily.
ur times are good for lacr...you must have been hooking real well to get those 60' on that pos track
Famoso = bakersfield...it is a fast track that hooks fairly well. It took me 2 hours to get there from west hills...I am sure it's only about 1 1/2 hours from you. 5 N to the 99 N to the 65, exit famoso road left. I cracked off a 1.66 60' there, leaving @ 2500 rpm's.
Irwindale hooks better though. I, and some buddies are probably going this coming thursday if you want to roll together...maybe I'll take the e55 and we'll have a grudge match of the fast benz's. That would get the crowd on their feet.

That would be great to have two E55's going at each other.

OK, the reason why im impressed is the fact that ive seen countless of cars go down the track. some are cheap ghetto cars to the most expensive Lambo Diablo...which BTW only hit 13.0 to 13.2's @ 107mph and he has taken the car out 3 times in the last 2 months. cant say that he doesnt know how to drive since ive seen him take his Twin Turbo Lindenfelder (sp) Z06 prepped car into 11.4's with a moddest launch. the thing about LACR that Dave / dgussin hasnt figured out yet is that ur going up against some serious conditions. wind blowing, brown skies from all the dust / dirt and to top it off, rarely any prep past the 60' cone....its difficult to get down the track and pick up a time slip that has some great numbers printed to it.
the Density Altitude was not great at all. from ur time slip, it shows 78.1F, 28% Humi. & 29.69 Baro which equals to 4930' above sea level...but the tracks 2710' above sea level already naturally ur a cheater since you got a S/C & boosting 35psi out of it and dave cheats even worse :p , but even blown cars suffer in the sense of see-ing 1 to 3 psi less then what ud normally see at sea level.
any car hitting 12's @ LACR deserves respect, especially when you can hit it on the stock rubber shoes that the car came with.....im never looking at a E55 AMG the same way again.
BTW: here is a URL that u can use for future ref.

It's fun to go...I just wish LACR wasn't so far, and that it didn't suck so bad. If it was like Famoso, I'd be there every week with you. I just get no thrill about running 11.50's. I want my damn 10, and I want it now!

Let me know when you guys hammer out a date...think I may make the trip down to near sea level to see what she will do.
Would be great to not be the only luxury car at the track.
California Dragway at sea level or close at least?
